Grizzly Adams
So i love Deimos rhinos, but i have probably 10 unassembled rhino kits and cant convince myself to pay for more from FW when i have plenty right here. I am not the greatest at building things out of plasticard, so i decided to go bits hunting and see if i could come up with something passable that would look good on the table. This may deserve to go in painting / modeling, but i thought this audience would be the right folks to ask. One of the signatures of a deimos is the round side access hatches. Turns out a razorback top fits right between the exhaust shields. You guys think this is passable? You can even trim the leftovers down to make the running board. Aqui
One of the good things about the background of the Rhino, is that even with STC's, there are variations due to how they are interpreted, what materials are available to hand and what the Rhinos face once constructed. What I mean is, whilst your Rhinos could be "true" Deimos pattern Rhinos, the combination of making do with certain materials etc results in a "unique" variation that the Mechanicum either doesn't know about (yet )or will eventually ratify, but ultimately doesn't get put into larger scale manufacturer. Or something like that I do like the use of the Razorback turret ring - it gives me the vibe of the RTB Rhino, but with a modern twist Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312992-possible-deimos-conversion/#findComment-4158368 Share on other sites
Rev. Tiberius Jackhammer
Great idea, I might wind up swiping it. Plus, those turret plates are incredibly cheap bits! Grizzly Adams
Thanks for the replies! I went ahead and fleshed it out to see what it would end up like. Not totally sold on the front end, but i think its ok. Doctor Perils
Nice idea. Have you got any ideas about the doors for the hatch ? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312992-possible-deimos-conversion/#findComment-4158396 Share on other sites
Grizzly Adams
Nice idea. Have you got any ideas about the doors for the hatch ? i reckon i am going to use the round razorback bit since it fits the hole just right. Maybe shave it down, fill some holes, make it look more "hatch" like. Dantay VI
Whilst the side hatches look really good, I am not so sue about the front end. I think its the vision slot being so small.. I'd plasticard the from to make it flat, so you cant see the ridged armour behind. Plus cut away the window hatch, to make it bigger, put some card on the back of the front panel to act as glass. Then some card to make a frame for the glass on the outside of the front section?
