Fourthnorth
Anyone have experience using vultures? I typically use a vendetta for the tanking hunting, but my gaming group has suggested to use the TL punisher vulture instead, as they think I would get more out of it. march10k
TL punisher vendetta is totally reliant on getting rear armor shots. Assuming AV10 rear armor, of course... It's more versatile, it's NOT a more effective tank hunter. If your purpose is killing tanks, stick with the vendetta. Three twinlinked lascannons will punch AV14 more reliably than anything short of a full fire dragon squad at 1" range! morroccomole
I think the Vulture's 'vector dancer' special rule helps line up those rear and side armor shots, though, march, as pointed out in one of the above-linked guides. Raw math-hammer aside, each has different aspects to its use, and each will fit just as well well into different lists accordingly. The biggest draw for me is that the vendetta can be kitbashed, while the Vulture is a completely different kit (and FW-expensive, to boot!) march10k
Side shots? On what, chimeras? Anyway, I'm not thrilled with the TLP version of the vulture as a tank hunter, though..I like the version with a twinlinked autocannon and six HK missiles for tank hunting (making great use of vector dancer to line up S7/8 shots at that rear armor) and four rocket pods (not really using vector dancer to line up shots unless doing so to bypass linear cover like an ADL) for killing troops. Master Antaeus
If you are hunting tanks and vehicles, the Vulture loses out to the Vendetta in every way. If you are hunting literally anything else, the punisher wins. I actually spun around in my chair in a most un-Tempestus like way when Marionetus quoted my vulture review. march10k
I especially like the vulture for air-to-air Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313053-vulture-vs-vendetta/#findComment-4160437 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
I consider the Vulture the best air-to-air and air-to-ground anti anti-armour flyer simply by virtue of having vector dancer. This thing will be in your rear and eating your booty. Unless you have AV12+ on your rear, this baby will do some damage to your. For its price it is great. The Vendetta is overpriced. I do not want to pay 170pts for 2 hits every turn. The Vendetta is an anti-infantry flyer to begin with. march10k
"two hits every turn?" Well, it's actually 2.25, and it's S9AP2 hits, not S5AP- hits. That's ridiculously awesome against fliers. I have seen a tournament player line up a flier to sucker a vector dancer into exposing its own rear facing to anti-air...both planes died. A vendetta could have downed the enemy flier from any angle, vastly improving its own chances of survival...and if it didn't kill the enemy flier, it would certainly deny it a shooting phase, probably inspiring it to fly off the board, wasting a turn while cutting a HP. Fourthnorth
Thanks fam! Great advice. A guy at my shop is trying hard to convince me to swap to Vulture w/ the TL Punisher- I'm just not sold on it. My current list is guard blob/medusa arty platforms w/ skyhammer. I need solid anti-ait/mobile anti tank to round out the list :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313053-vulture-vs-vendetta/#findComment-4165508 Share on other sites
