SW1's Tale of 18, =][= and allies. ;)

Not sure how I'm basing my army so going to call this done for now. If anyone's got any ideas on direction I should go in for basing I'm all ears. It's a toss up between expanding my current industrial ones to include 32mm bases or make a new range. Enough waffle Pic speak a thousand words ...

Hopefully the blue of the gun and the purple of the eyes doesn't clash too much. Think the eyes are a bit washed out in the pic as IRL they are a more vibrant purple.

Up next is a more hand to hand orientated Inquisitor and maybe some Henchmen. O ... And a bit of fluff for Inquisitor Viridis.

Hi SW1, I think the scion head was a stroke of creative genious, it really breaks up the outline of the power armour and makes it look different to the usual marine stuff.

Looking forward to seeing more.

I've been lurking...

Cheers Lord Sondar ... You'll have to come over and we'll get the forge fires burning. I think we should do an Inquisition Warband vs Inquisition Warband with the Zone Mortalis rules. You game?

Spent this evening shuffling through bits. I've pulled out the 6 shields from a WHFB Stormcast box (I'd considered converting up custodes with them but failed to get round to it) and started cutting/scraping the hammer detail off them. I've also pulled the 6 shorter swords and the 6 front chest pieces from the Grey Knights kit. I'll be combining these with some standard marine back halves of the chests (with the plug bit for the backpack carved off), beret heads from the scions kit, possibly Catachan legs (if I can source enough if not scout legs?) and hopefully some arms from a kit that I can make work. There's a few big gaps in the bits required (legs and arms) but once sorted should go together quite nicely.

This will give me 6 Crusaders which will go with my next Inquisitor.

Right ... Trying to work out the Latin for "She Cat" not sure if "Illa Felix" works? But this might be the next Inquisitors name if I can invoke a feminine feel to the model. If not it'll be something else. ;)

There's an Esher ganger who lost an arm a long time ago in the bitz box somewhere so she might donate a head. :p

Don't want to go down the lines of massive power armour boobs to show the models female. Not sure if just a head swap will do though.

I've been playing around with some female models. Been filing down Dark Eldar torsos and trying to gsmore realistic chests that still give the impression of a female form. I did some errmmm research, and I found that you can get female armour (this seemed to be for the lady off road bike crowd) that would be padded out at the front, and well endowed ladies would need specially made armour. I think a normal uniform, or jumpsuit would hide some of the ladies chest ring baggy enough to provide room, although you have to think, if the model has tight clothing, then her breast would probably be more exaggerated.

That Scion head is an inspired touch. Looks really brutal and proto-Astartes.

Cheers for the feedback. Wanted something that would differentiate from marines but not be too Chaos looking.

Been playing around with the bits to hand and I might give up of making the next one more female looking. When you stick the helmet on such an enclosing piece of armour who's to say if the occupant is male or female when they're not space marines? If it was Carapace armour then it would need to follow the contours of the body a bit more.

I've had a bit of a breakthrough with the Crusaders as well. Scion arms look ok and if I enclose the forearm into the back of the shield like the Bullgryn models I should be able to have the sword arms 3 right handed and 3 left handed to match the swords I have so no need to mess with the hands which makes life a bit easier. :tu:

So just need to sort out some legs next.

Hmmm ... Ideas for moving this forward.

An Inquisitorial Conclave ... Bringing together all 3 major Ordos and a few other more specialised ones. Just need a hook as to why all are getting cosy. Or looking like they are but we'll have some backstabbing with some collateral damage.

So on the table I've got:

- Inquisitor in Power Armour with a big hammer (ready for gs'ing =][= details)

- 6 Crusaders (needing legs)

I've got ideas knocking around for a unit each of Grey Knights, Deathwatch and Red Hunters. Only issue is I need to update my Grey Knight and Space Marine codex to put this into action. :(

Pics uploaded just not able to post them till later when I'm not using this blasted phone. Looking at the pics there's some mould lines I'll need to deal with. Why they only become obvious after being undercoated is anyone's guess?

I've also cleaned up Inquisitor number 3 who is in TDA and sprayed his arms. To say the model has had goodness knows how many paint jobs over the last 2 decades there should be no mould lines to clean up. But there is ... So need to do that before getting him sprayed up as well!!!

Rather enjoying this.

Cheers Dosjetka, hope you like the next one as well. msn-wink.gif

I mentioned Crusaders earlier, well here's a mock up of one:

gallery_25187_11316_22071.jpg

Should have 6 of these ready to play in a week or so once I source more legs. Back halves of the chest armour are sorted as I found a few chaos marine bits in the bitz boxes. I find mixing Grey Knights and Chaos bits amusing at a very childish level. laugh.png

Now let me give everyone a first peek at Illa Felix:

She's a rather feisty lass. I'm thinking ginger/brown hair and red armour with lots of gold trim.

There's also some other arms for the next Inquisitor in the pic's section but I'll not post them till I have the body fully cleaned up.

The next couple of Inquisitors will be in TDA, I've already started undercoating the arms on the first one:

There may also be some questionable tech being used by some Inquisitors acquired from a ruling house of a major hive world msn-wink.gif :

gallery_25187_11316_705958.jpg

There will also be an assassin joining the ranks:

gallery_25187_11316_11311.jpg

O and so much for not starting ANOTHER army.

I've pulled 10 OOP Grey Knights in TDA out of the lead mountain and currently stripping 6 of them in dettol with a fair number of arms. This little lot managed to avoid the dipping:

gallery_25187_11316_44744.jpg

gallery_25187_11316_593104.jpg

I've also acquired an additional plastic TDA and PA boxes of GK's for weapons and other funky bits for conversions. I can see that the TDA arms may end up being used to update the lead models if I can't locate all the old school weapons.

The funny thing is I'm sure there's more metal GK's knocking around somewhere as I remember stripping a load ages ago.

Really need to focus rather than get hobby butterfly again. I can have lots of projects flying around in the background but working on one model seems to work well so next up is the single Inquisitor. :D

@SW1 - Nice model there, you just need to sort out the gap between the left hand and the gun.

So the first months entry needs up looking like this:

Inquisitor Viridis Faba

When not in the field Inquisitor Viridis Faba can usually be found tinkering with a new weapon or as he likes to refer to them, his "special toys". Viridis is constantly looking for technology and weapons which will give the Imperium of Man that illusive edge over the Xenos threat forever lurking in the shadows which seem to be getting longer and darker as the years pass. Willing to do what many others would consider heresy he specialises in finding the weapons of the Xenos most suitable to be used back upon them.

Rather than grubbing in the dirt of long forgotten moons or planets he finds it's far easier to get relics and weapons to come to him. Viridis is to those who think they're in the know, a foppish fool with more money than sense. A collector of the weird and unusual, the more Xenos in origin the better. Many a trading cartel agent and rogue trader have enjoyed his no expense spared nights of cavorting with parts of his collection proudly on display.

Just how he stays one step ahead of the Inquisition is greatly admired by his peers. For it is said hidden away in his more private collection, is a suit of armour that clearly belonged to one of it's members previously. A suit of power armour dark green in colour with the Ordos =][= proudly displayed on it's chest and the Aquila on it's left knee. With an inhuman almost robotic looking helmet, with large purple eyes that seem glow even though the armour is unpowered and no matter where you stand in relation to the suit those eyes seems to be looking directly at you.

O how little do they know what a viper they had brought into their bosom, for that very armour is actually Viridis's battle plate. But this suits Viridis down to a tee. He takes great delight in stringing these greedy fools along with his theatrical flare which is helped along by his latent psyonic skills. For it is far easier to make them believe what they want to believe than planting new ideas into their minds that is against what they know or have seen.

To help him keep this subterfuge on going, he sometimes enlists the help of his former Interrogator, now a fully fledged member of the Inquisition in her own right, Illa Felix. A woman who loves nothing better than to get to grips with her enemy face to face. This is in a stark comparison to Viridis who prefers to take a more supportive roll in battle.

When the need arises, Viridis is strapped into his green power armour transforming him from the perceived foppish fool into a mighty warrior of the Emperor. The transformation is so complete that no one would guess they are one in the same person, cradled lovingly in his arms is the pinical of his research, a large complex array which if he is to believed is his own version of the fabled conversion beamer. What technology is actually contained inside is only know by Viridis and it's something he has never disclosed guarding it's secret jealously. What can be deduced is the power unit is much smaller than would normally be expected for such a powerful weapon.

I'm quite happy that I managed to write something within the month time limit. It's still needs finishing but I will come back and tweak it when I work out what needs doing with it. I've stuck it up in the Fan Fiction section asking for feedback so if anyone has any ideas on how to improve it feel free to let me know on that thread which can be found here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313136-help-needed-with-fluff-background-for-inquisitor/?do=findComment&comment=4184240

Now I've got a story line forming my planned direction of Ordo Malleus has been scuppered a bit. Instead it seems heading firmly towards Ordo Xenos instead for now. The model I have made for Illa will need it's hammer changing to remove the sword and book motif from it as that's more Grey Knights/Malleus iconography.

This does mean all the Grey Knights I've been getting together won't be needed quite yet though which is annoying. Though I have plenty of weapons to plunder for converting purposes.

Lol ... Guess that's what happens when your making it up on the go. I'll round out the Xenos side maybe even dipping my foot into the Deathwatch much earlier than planned (good job I have loads of marines and more than enough pads already in my bitz boxes). Those Spyrer models are likely to become Inquisitors much sooner than planned as well. :D

Then I can go back to the Malleus side of things with my original idea character wise.

I've got Illa ready to go just want to sort out some crusaders to go with her. Catachan legs are being a pain to source in numbers so I might end up going for scions legs instead. These Crusaders are probably going to be the most expensive £ wise per model even taking into account chopping up FW mk3 models for the 2 Inquisitors. :)
