dothac83
So while working on a Terminator Captain for my Salamanders, I used Army Painter Matte Finish, and now I have a Terminator Captain glazed donut. Any ideas on how I can clear this up? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313170-wip-help-clouded-matte-finish-problem/ Share on other sites
abraxus
Sounds like you might have used this while it was humid. I know with the testors (dullcoat) version, if I hit it with an addition thin layer (under better conditions) it often clears up the cloudiness. Still Standing
Although I cannot see the picture (blocked at work), a little advice for the future. To help stop varnish clouding up, dry it with a hair drier as soon as you put it on. stinkenheim
Dip it in water, if the clouding diminshes you can save the model by brushing on a coat of varnish over the top. I've used this method to salvage a Njal stormcaller I'd painted a while back. Also I live in Arizona and it's Monsoon season, so I can't re-apply a new coat for at least a month and a half. As I understand it one of the reasons that it goes cloudy is that the surface becomes pitted refracting the light. When you dip it in water these small pits shall be filled which causes the light to pass through properly so the model appears clear. If this happens, wait for the model to dry properly and then use a brush to apply a coat of varnish and it should solve the problem.
