Greetings all,

I have been playing 40k for quite sometime I have about 10,000pts of Blood Angels, and I wish to branch into 30k. I have been buying form FW more and more often collected some sicarans, a fellblade, deredeo,a warhound, and a cerastus acheron knight. This has made me want more but alas i am limited to what awesomesauce units I can take for Blood angels in 40k, there you have my problem and my solution is starting 30k biggrin.png. Then again there is so much for it I just done know where to start... Any heresy Era models to start with and of course rule books that I should pick up?

Thanks guystongue.png

We would say that you've picked quite the time to start thinking about the 30k universe, son of Sanguinius.

There's a couple of threads which are good starting points - most are around which Legion you should choose (although I think a red colour scheme is in your sights), and how yo should start up. Seeing as you've already got some big purchases under your belt, I would suggest starting with some of the big black books if you're interested in the background and lore of the campaigns and legions included, or sticking with the red books if you're more interested in rules than background and you're wanting to see what you can build. Some will insist that the red books are always a good bet, as it compiles the rules across the first three black books and makes t easier to transport for gaming. I would say that the black books are great value for the content that it provides, and you might just fall for another Legion in the process (there's a reason why so many of us float between different projects smile.png )

Also, if you're going to stick with Blood Angels, you should be aware that they don't have rules or units yet as they haven't been covered. But, there have been upgrade packs previewed at the last Open Day which should be available before the end of this year. Also the next book (Book VI: Retalliation) will have Blood Angel Legion rules, just not anything on special units, characters, or rules for Sanguinus. This should also be out before the end of the year, according to Alan Bligh.

EDIT

Just in case you were wondering, here's a quick pic I took of the Blood Angel upgrade previews from the ForgeWorld Open Day. They're looking quite nice!

While I can't make any true recommendations as I haven't actually fully converted over, I can make suggestions.

I spend a decent amount of time browsing around FW and seeing what I can use to make my BA unique. Take a look at the EC Palatine Blades. Beautiful details and minimal work to make them into BA. Or take a look at the UM torso and head sets. A little work and you have some great torsos for any loyalist army that favors the bling.

As far as list building, I'd suggest purchasing the Red Books for now if you're dead set on BA and wait to get the Big Black Books until after the BA get rules.
