New alternatives for purifier color scheme

Im a few days away from starting to paint my own purifiers, but I dont want them to look "normal" like the ordinary PA Grey Knight. And for some reason im having a hard time to paint white :(

So if people got somekind of selfmade color scheme.....please let me see them for inspiration :D

They do, but im having a hard time getting that white color to look any good..... :(

damn! I was about to suggest white bodies with red shoulders and head haha.

Or red bodies with the usual white head and white lower leg.

I suppose you could keep them the usual silver colour and add red to guns/helmets/shoulders if you can't do white to your satisfaction?

Or whatever colour you choose as your purifier accent, might even be purple if you wanted. Or blue.

It's funny you say that because I'm converting a liberator prime from the starter box to a knight of the flame now, although it is a slow going process.  As for color scheme I don't have anything unique for ya but how are you doing your white?  When I paint it I base with the lightest gray that I have and after that it is time for very thin coats of white until the surface looks good.  On my last test model for my paint scheme it took maybe 7 or so passes for it to really even out.

I also use something I picked up from a painter at games day several years ago called a wet palette to help thin the paint and keep it from drying out quickly in general.

Start tray of some sort, I use a disposable plastic plate.

Take a piece of paper towel and completely soak it, the thicker the paper towel the better to act as a wick for the water.

Put a piece of parchment paper, you can find it next to wax paper in grocery stores, on top of the soaked paper towel.  Press it in to get the water to wet on one side then flip it over and press it down again and boom, wet palette.

Put your paint on top of that guy and it'll stay good for a very long time and it will naturally help thin them down to allow for a smoother application.  If you want to thin it a bit more you can drag it around the palette a little or wet your brush on the paper towel bellow and bring more water up that way.

It's been rough with the starter set guys since shoulders, arms and hands are all modeled together. If you get some liberator bodies, legs and arms you'd be in a good spot to add gk hands, shoulders, helms and backpacks. Then just add flavor with all of our little doodads and it should be good.

I tried making a terminator out of a retributor and using the stormcast shoulders instead of terminator shoulders. It wasn't bad looking but if I did it again I would go with the terminator shoulders to inject more gk feel to it.

I hate painting white. I base black, then drybrush leadbelcher, followed by mithril. After that I paint the helmets white. The silver's seem to make the white go on easier and looks better. After that I use some earthshade to negate any little chalky looking spots.

Everytime i use my white color, and i have like 3 diffrent ones, it just looks damn awefull :( but think i got an idea about how i wanna do my purifiers. Wanna do em metaldark-ish, since my other Grey Knights looks like the "normal" ones in silver plate. Now i just need to find a great color for the helm and shoulders......thinking purp or blue.....

Well here goes. Ive made a "test" purifier. I like the more darkish look on him. Im gonna give all of my purifiers a cloak....just like this one....thinks it looks really good. Still missing the base, eyes and the emblems...im thinking purp emblames....what you guys think?
