I'm really impressed!

Some extra photos of the pieces fully assembled on a MkII squad

The torsos have some lovely details that blend Space Marine and mediaeval plate armour. I think the helms will be a bit more divisive. Some are nice, others look a little over-done or awkwardly proportioned to me. The bare head looks like he's wearing a mop as a wig! :s

That said, the assembled models look really good – and I think a black paint scheme will benefit from the visual 'pop' of sculpted detail to differentiate them from the other mainly black Legions. I think the parts will work best when scattered across a squad, rather than single models with torso, head and shoulder pads – that'll look over-complex very quickly.

Quick, somebody wake up Depth!

I HAVE ARISEN MORTAL!!! WHAT WAKES ME FROM MY ETERNAL BACHNALIA KNOWN AS COLLEG-

Oh I see. Well I like them but....im still not overly impressed with them. Somehow they bear a similarity to my converted praetor helmet using the champion model @_@ is someone watching??? :P

And of course they'd finally release this stuff only after I started my XVth legion project...

I really hope there is a bald spot on back the bare head. That would cinch it for me, he needs to have the friar/monk hair cut.

Ew, get those grubby traitor second legion hands away from my dark angels!!!! :P

Jk, but yeah I kinda hate the bare head unless it has that Franciscian cut.

I think I may have to get a MkII Tactical Squad Bundle and some of these upgrades and do a small bunch of the First Legion, because I really do like the aesthetics of most of these kits. The torsos are generally alright, although the one with oath papers 'front and center' is a bit much for my eyes, however the helms are the out and out stars for my eyes. It's a shame the bare-head looks so bad with mes of a hair cut - I can swap that out with something else though.

The pads, I think I want to see them and examine them properly. The concept of the wings breaching the boundaries of the pads is good in concept, and I don't think they're as bad as others are thinking they are - but I want to see them before I amke a final judgement.

I'm glad they've gone with MkII for the upgrades - feels right that the First Legion has more of the older marks of equipment than newer Legions who would take the newer forged MkIII / MkIV.

Time to dig out Collected Visions and find more artwork for these guys.

Maybe they gave the helmet less guy bed head to match his bathrobe :D

Next I'll be expecting a tactical shampoo bottle....

Maybe not a tactical shampoo bottle... But the 1st Legion already has tactical deodorant.

One real criticism. Only 9 Helmets, the bare head is nice, but not having enough helms for a full squad would really bother me.

Several other kits follow the same pattern, iinm. Wrangling a head from somewhere can't be too hard, can it?

There's always the one helm sculpt people aren't keen on. Considering that using the other 9 will get used that means 9 spares, not really too much of a chore. Plus it's always better to mix and match the pieces unless you're going for a balls out veteran cadre who could justify a full set of custom armour
