aiur
Greetings I'm currently trying to make mk8 armour as similar to the original concept art as possible. the concept shows the marine with a smaller power fist than the normal sized ones, i'm thinking the cadian power fist. has anyone tried that? and could they upload a pic? also i'm not sure on what helmet to use as I don't want to use a standard one. thank you. Slips
You could try using the Templar Bretherens Solarite Power Gauntlet from Forgeworld: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99550101406_ImperialFistLegionTemplarBrethrenUpgradeSet08.jpg For the Helmet, if you can find one of the Variant Mk IV helms, also from Forgeworld, I think it could work Nicely: The helmet Middle Center: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99590101277_LegionMkIVMaximusArmour01.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313514-mk8-armour/#findComment-4168368 Share on other sites

SW1
When you say the original concept art what are you referring to? Can you post a picture or link an article. Without seeing what your aiming for it's difficult to give advice. I have several of the original metal mk8 in lead I've been hording away and I've also been looking at the plastics to try and make more. Are you aiming to recreate them or something else? I ask as there are some pics knocking around that say they're mk8 but they're nothing like the original metals. It just makes it really confusing. Lucien Eilam
Note that it's not actually a power fist. They're "power fist style gauntlets". Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313514-mk8-armour/#findComment-4169005 Share on other sites
aiur
i went with the idea that given how advanced the mk8 is supposed to be, a smaller and compact powerfist was made for it. it seemed to be the best idea as I gave him a wristmounted stormbolter on his left hand. Ironheaded
Actually the Mk8 armor is old model design, made into pewters, when most marine blisters were pewter. Only one model was every molded and produced. (pre-2000) It was noted for it's high gorget, and the fluff on that was that rounds were hitting the curve of the torso plate and deflecting into the throat and/or underneath the helm, causing unnessassary casualties. The helmet seems rounder too. The original sculpts of power armored Grey Knights were similar to Mk8 sketches that J. Goodwin made. http://gotnurbs.com/ironheaded/mk8.png please excuse the plasma cannon conversion to classic shoulder-carry.
