Blood angels kill team - help!

Kill team needs bodies. I go with normal tactical squad with a heavy weapon and some upgrades, or death company with bolters. Death co means in a normal 200pt game you get lots of 3+armored bodies with FNP, good melee, good bolter range, grenades still, and are more all rounders than sternguard. Special ammo is nice, but at best you get 8 guys. With orks, tyranids, guardsmen, or other hoardish groups, you need the relentless shots from more bodies that are 1/3 more durable and more attacks.

I love Sternguard for Kill Team conceptually. They do have some tough match-ups, though - hordes can be tough to whittle down, as has been mentioned. But then, they also have access to heavy flamers. So that doesn't need to be a huge problem for you.

 

Death Company gives you at best 10 bodies, but they have no special weapons and no special mobility. They're most powerful in close combat, but they have to get there - and when we're talking about combat, Sternguard are hardly slouches there with 2 attacks each and the Blood Angels chapter tactics. Remember Sternguard can start shooting you from 30" away and they can strip your 3+ save to nothing. They're also more killy against hordes due to the 2+ poison ammo option.

 

Something to remember about the Death Company's relentless shots is that even with all your close combat attacks on top, you're still only killing one model per turn at best.
