The best of each legion

Remus Ventanus.

One thing I have noticed is that they, generally, seem to give characters most relevant to the theme of the book. Ventanus and Honored Telemechrus were very relevant to Calth, while Marius Gage or the Tetrarchs were to less of a degree. Well, not quite, there could have been at least one Tetrarch, but the point stands. The other things that seems to matter is if the character represents a relevant, but often misrepresented aspect of his Legion, like that Death Guard Blackshield. The other is that they do deliver on the more highly anticipated characters, like Sigismund or Khârn.

I may be thinking too much into it, and it won't hold up all the time. But when it comes to the special characters of those yet released, I expect that they will be one or all of the above. Relevant to the battle (Signus, Thramas, Prospero), highly anticipated (Bjorn and Ahriman seem the most likely, I think), or represent an unexplored but integral aspect of the Legion (which puts Azkaellon in the lead over Amit and Raldoran, in my head).

I love the 'unknown' characters FW releases because they end up being so much more characterful than the BL characters. Who could've known how popular Mor and Valen would've been? Or Morturg? These non-BL characters give FW a chance to showcase things about the legion we are not normally exposed to.
I'd liked to have seen Thiel. I think he was pretty relevant on Calth. Telemechrus was a bit of an odd choice I think, we didn't even see that much of him in KNF. I get the idea of making new characters in the FW books, but to take one we barely saw and not expand on it at all is a bit odd, I'd rather have seen either a new character or someone who was a bigger part. Not a big deal though.

Come on now he really doesn't. At Calth he was in new chassis  and hadn't done anything prior to earn honour markings etc etc. Like Rylanor (who was respected throughout the III Legion) he can be done with a UM specific contemptor model and a Power Fist/Kheres combo.

Do you know who deserves a fething model...EIKOS LAMIAD

You'll find no argument from me on that score. I'd very much like to see one of the Tetrarchs get a set of rules/model since they're a bit of a grey area in the Legions. We've got First Captains (or equivalent in all but name - Khârn) aplenty with the expectation of more to come but the Tetrarchs are supposed to be a cut above them although I expect that to manifest in buffing/force multiplying rather than combat monsters, although they should still be pretty formidable.

just having some fun. As I said earlier I'm firmly on the "lamiad deserves a model" boat

To move away from th "big" legions:

White Scars - Targutai Yesugei, he embodies the spiritual or mystic warrior vibe that the Scars have.

Alpha Legion - Bit of a lack of options her but surely Armillus Dynat. How could you go past a guy called the Harrowmaster.

How about Exodus Aka Omegon (OR IS IT!?)

Everyone knows that's RNGesus' most favored son...Sharrowkyn.

As others have said I really enjoy the FW characters.

I'm interested to see how some of the known characters stack up when they get rules. Like Corswain vs. Sigismund.

What of Alajos?

Yeah he has been killed by Sevatar, but he was slain by the latter when he called for reinforcements.

Also Templar states, that there was never a finer Astartes to raise sword.

Might makes right, you wanna be the best, you gotta know that there are no rules when it comes to winning a fight. Case in point, look at Lucius' tally of losses because he keeps thinking people are gonna play by the rules lol

Someone said earlier that Alan Bligh said that 'we haven't done Corswain yet' when asked about how he wrote balanced rules for the greatest swordsman/warrior amongst the Astartes (talking about Sigi) so... :P

Here we go, it was Balthamal:

As for Corswain, as far as I understand he first appeared in Savage weapons as Paladin of the 9th Order (take that as you will) who eventually rose to Seneschal of the I Legion whilst the Lion went day tripping. And his name is mentioned in Sevatar's rules entry in Massacre as being eminent amongst the other Legions.

That and when I asked Alan Bligh how they managed to right balanced rules for the best warrior among the Legions (meaning Sigismund) he simply replied "We haven't done Corswain yet"
