Lost or Forgotten? – The Knights Templar

Yeah Alexos aeh I mean Alpharius is right. If you don't use a base, it cheapens your work. When you do a base, then you have to consider which color scheme your army has. I know they are dark grey with gold. So i would go for a light colored base. Snow or sand. So that the models stand out. If you use a dark one. Your figures disappear. Not so good. Cause your heroes are golden how about a light stone color. Woth snow or ice. That gives enough contrast to for the special chars in gold/ brass and for the dark grey ones.

I think I have cork flying around somewhere. What I have most definetly is styrofoam, I can imagine Phearus standing atop a rock or sliding down a slope.
But I'm not sure how te remove him from his base, 'cause I'm afraid he might actually break...

Fluff time :biggrin.:

Oh, and does anyone happens to have a picture of a marine armed with a Volkite charger?

Exemplary Battles – The Battle for Greacum

Prelude

When the 7th expedition fleet first arrived at Greacum, the planet quickly swore allegiance to the young Imperium of Mankind. The planet was a teeming Agriworld the size of ancient Terra and was quickly slated for further colonization. None however could fathom, that the small, but easily purged population would return to plague the planet years later.

When the 7th moved on, the Edessa and her escorts remained behind to guide the people of Greacum in their first steps along the path of the Imperial Truth and take suitable recruits. The Astartes detachment was small, barely forty battlebrothers and two Apothecaries remained behind, eager to rejoin their brethren and Robert de Craon, designated Master of Greacum, was no exception.
One of Valerius Magnus chosen; a noble knight groomed for command, Master Robert had his man travel from one farming community to the next by jetbike.
None however took the reports of greenskins in the great forests which dotted the planet serious and so the stage was set.
For the greenskins had neither been purged nor had they even fought in great numbers against the second legion.
Those who were defeated numbered less than three hundred and it was Robert de Craon who had achieved an easy victory, for which he was rewarded with temporary stewardship over Greacum.

It took not long for Master Robert to declare the planet fully compliant and prepare to rejoin the rest of the legion, but the day of their departure, the green tide struck.
Pouring out of the forests, the greenskins began to pillage and destroy.
Later analysis considers the loss of life a failure on the part of the second Legion. Where other Legions would deploy Recon squads, the second Legion refrained of using them on worlds, which would join the Imperium willingly.
As such Robert de Craon was taken completely by surprise. Refusing to call for immediate reinforcements, Robert led his forty battlebrothers to meet the enemy in combat, underestimating the sheer numbers which he would face, leaving the two Apothecaries behind.
In the end, only the youngest Astartes would survive the fateful encounter and bring news of the threat.
After the loss of Master Robert, the defences of Greacum were mediocre at best. The human soldiers were seasoned in fighting off small scale raids, but never before had the greenskins amassed in these numbers.
Ragnar Arlion, the only surviving battlebrother did, what Rober de Craon out of pride had not: Meeting the former ruling body of Greacum, he learned that the greenskins had most of the time fought each other and that large conflicts with them happened only every once or twice in a century.
Considering orbital bombardment conducted by the Edessa, an old grand cruiser was declined. Instead an emergency broadcast was send, urging the 7th expedition fleet to return and messengers dispatched, resulting in massive treks moving northwards to the planetary capital.
While fate can be a cruel mistress, as the second would learn in its late days, this time it smiled upon them.
Having been send to Greacum the day it declared allegiance, a fleet of the Mechanicum arrived shortly after the call for reinforcements had been send. Tasked with creating a starport at the location of the planetary capital and delivering supplies for Robert’s Astartes, the leading Magos quickly agreed to assist in the ways he could.

Uh, what? :D

Does anyone know if this http://www.ebay.de/itm/Light-Tank-Turret-/251215239237 fit to a GW Rhino?
One of my early attempts at building a turret myself ended with the gunmount of a Basilisk simply slapped on top of the Rhino...
Figured I'll finish this, come on, A Rhino as SPG, I like the idea.
And I think I'll try the ten breachers from ebay... it is most likely a recast... but I cannot afford two batches of them by forgeworld :D

I did not found the turret plate on ebay, so I thought the swivelling mount thingy is supposed to work like this.
Alternativly, I can cut something so it will work...

Uh, shame on me... the swiveling mount is actually the part where the earth shaker will be mounted...

Oh my... I just bought 5 breacher on ebay... way cheaper than on forgeworld... I'm looking forward... and hope the quality is not that bad :biggrin.:

For good measure I added Mk3 command set, brass templar symbols, volkitecharger, mk3 power weapons, another breacher squad andd the Apothecaries...

Think of using the etched brass as template for painting the templar cross...

Yeah, my Forgeworld stuff arrived today :)
And I gotta say I'm really impressed. The modells look great, I found absolutely no bubbles, nothing is bent or damaged...
Guess my local GW guy will soon get a breacher squad up his ass :D
So since I have a massive cold, tomorow after handing my assignment in, I'll start assembling.
But I think using the etched brass as templates will not work :(

Ok... so several weapon are bent, but hey, nothing hot water will fix.
But that etched brass how do I cut the small thingies which hold the symbols in place? My side cutter is to big, and it is already designed for cutting small stuff and how do apply them?
I pressed it towards a torso, but then theres the problem of glueing it in place right...
Have basecoated five breacher and their helmets, the first apothecary, replaced the chainsword with an axe, realy like him, think he'll become Hypocras, Master of the Hospitalers.
But that moment when corax white won't fit to the model or you'll notice a mold line -.-

So, two WIP shots of Hypocras... changed the chainsword for a axe... his right arm is on hold, I'm toying with giving him a volkite charger instead of the pistol...

Hypocras back

Hypocras 1

Will try this...

I have a problem.
The figures colored with runefang steel... this presents the problem of how to do the weapons... I based the volkite charger with warplock bronze, but realized that the tubes are warplock bronze and layered with brass scorpion.
Right now I'm thinking about going for golden weaponry or some green weapons?

golly gee, I just broke of Hypocras' axe -.-

One of the first things i learned about the legions was: keep it simple. One main color and one additional color is the main look for the legions.max 3 colors for the armor. Chapters in 40 k have more . of course your special chars could be more colorful. So as i see it. You have allready to much. Steel, brass, green and white. Red as well. If i look on your hypocrass and there I am not sure if he has the main colors. Seems like my own Wardens with lot of metallics so I would give him a black weapon. Simple and yet in contrast to the rest.

Dilute your colors with a medium not water cause you have more control of the flow

Hm, the main color for the armor is steel... eyes and the likes are gonna be red, trims and so on gold... Hypocras got green for his canisters, but thats it :D

Thought about going black for weapons as well... that or red... grey knights are a thing there...
