Black library question

Anyone noticed the frequency of full length black library novels seems to have dramatically decreased? Everytime I turn around there's some collectors edition novella coming out, priced at an exorbitant sum, but actual books are few and far between.

I feel like there's money to be made, revenue to be generated, new readers to capture. In a time of declining new customers of GW and in light of a rumored release of heresy plastics, it just doesn't make sense not to try to capitalize on an area that fans seem pretty rabid for. New novels strengthen the 30k ip for possible licensing deals, draw new blood to the hobby, and drum interest in what appears to be a new third leg of the GW pyramid.

I guess I just don't understand, anyone else have similar thoughts?

No idea. At the HH Weekender this year I was told by a couple of authors that there was a real sense that they needed to drive the plot forward...so I'm hoping (perhaps foolishly) that they are simply passing time until they have a few novels complete to release on a more regular schedule. I know literally nothing on the logistics of selling books but it does seem bizarre to me that they'd continue to release novellas that don't even sell out if they aren't written by ADB.

Not really, no. It's just that lately they're all for Age of Sigmar.

That's just it though, there's no full length AoS novels either. Just a couple of shorts from all I can find.

I find it strange that no ones trying to capitalize on the HH wave. As popularity for the setting has increased, production of books set in 30k has decreased. We are talking New York Times best selling novels too... now nothing. Unless you count the odd novella by Nick Kyme every few months. I can't find a full length book that has actually come out this year..

<sigh>

Feels that way. Seems like with all the novellas, short stories, quick reads and anthologies put out, the authors could have done a few novels instead.

They're people with real lives though so we've just gotta be patient and wait.

There was a point there where we were getting novels pretty frequently, maybe Black Library turned down the pace deliberately?

People must be buying the novellas etc though, or they wouldn't continue to release them.
