Iron Handed
My reading into the heresy hasn't been particularly diligent of late, so I apologise if this issue is already covered in the fluff. The question is do you see Rogal Dorm permitting Fists' librarian into line service by the time Terra is besieged? Or if not, when? Factors for: -Sanguinius and the Khan will both be coming back to Terra and have already demonstrated a willingness to use librarians. - The Sigilite has also used Marine psykers (Ultramarine from Vengeful spirit) - Although Dorn can be said to be stubborn, he has been shown as willing to accept the reality of difficult situations (when Horus treachery is revealed by Garro). Factors against: - Fists follow orders - Given his dressing down of Sigismund after failing to obey orders based on a personal judgement call, Dorn would be extremely resistant to directly contradicting the instructions of his father. Especially given said father is right next door. I think its likely that Fists' librarians will be reintroduced, but I wanted to check with the honourable Fraters before I bring shame on my Siege of Terra themed list. Thanks for reading. Kol Saresk
If it holds to the older background, then Dorn will be forced to use the Librarians against the sorcery of the Thousand Sons during the Siege. But all of that is currently in flux so it's kind of up in the air. Iron Handed
That certainly makes sense. I'd be interested to see if this is a decision he owns as Praetorian or if he gets a friendly from Papa Emps or during another pep talk in the lightning tower. Thanks for the heads up. Kriegriss
yeah I think by the time of the siege even the staunchest loyalists must see thier Librarius as a necessary and risky evil to be used with great caution for any hope of victory Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313916-siege-of-terra-if-librarians/#findComment-4176393 Share on other sites
m_r_parker
I think it'll come down to whether the big E revokes the Nikea edict. With Chaos being prominent within the Legions, and sorcerers present within most of the traitor legions, and daemons making their presence felt - the Emperror may be forced to bring back the Librarius to combat these threats. If he does then Dorn would re-invoke the Librarians, if not then I don't see him going against his fathers commands. TemujinZero
That's pretty accurate, though I'd add that Dorn's bottom line is defending the Emperor, so if he felt that his father was threatened he might reactivate his Librarius without direct orders. One way or another I think we're likely to see them take the field at Terra eventually. It was basically setup in that Garro story. Marshal Rohr
Librarians would help, but by this point they wouldn't have the lore or training to be very good at combating daemonology. They have basic psychic skills training, but daemon hunting requires something above all of that, hence the formation of the Grey Knights. Older lore, as Kol says, mentions Fist librarians countering Sons witchcraft. That alone is all the justification you need.
