IVIilitarus
Issue 19 of Warhammer Visions depicts a Cerastus Knight built and painted by Duncan Rhodes that wields a Shock Lance and a Rapid-Fire Battle Cannon from the standard Imperial Knight. I want to know how difficult it would be to make a similar conversion. I just want to know if an Imperial Knight's arm will socket into the Cerastus Knight without troubles, or if there will be cutting and filling involved. I'd like to hear from any Imperial Knight owners who have Cerastus AND regular Imperial Knights and can visually compare the two or vaguely remember the sizes during assembly. Thank you! Carlson793
If memory serves (at work, so can't double check) the Cerastus weapons/arms can go on an Imperial/Questoris Knight chassis, but not the other way around without a small amount of modification (just a little cutting/sanding/filing). Dark Bjoern
The shoulder joints are nearly the same. But Carlson mixed it up. The difference is that the Imperial Knight got a bayonet fitting and the Cerastus must be glued. If you wanna put the Cerastus arms on an Imperial Knight you have to remove the "hooks" of the Torso. CommodusXIII
I have a Lancer and an Errant in pieces on my workbench at the moment. I'll test-fit the two when I get home and will let you know what works with what. Carlson793
Had a minute to snap some pics. I went for upper arm swap points instead of the shoulder - saves having to remove the whole arm once the shoulder armour plates are in place. The shoulder shown is standard Imperial Knight; the upper arm/elbow are from the Lancer. CommodusXIII
I played around with my project Knights. GW shoulders are just a couple millimeters too wide in diameter to fit the Cerastus torso. Cerastus shoulders will fit GW torsos, though you'll have to cut the "bayonet lugs" and pin them in place. Carlson's method is probably the easiest way to mate the two kits. IVIilitarus
Thank you for all the feedback! It looks like the project will go forward. The comprehensive help I get from you guys is always amazing, thanks! Question to Carlson: did the elbow socket perfectly into the weapon? Would it be possible to magnetise that assembly to swap between weapons? Would it be possible to magnetise that assembly to swap between weapons? The Cerastus socket is larger than the Imperial/Questoris socket, so using Cerastus weapons on them requires minimal modification; going the other way (Questoris on Cerastus) requires greater modification. The 'lip' on the Imperial/Questoris upper arm needs to be trimmed off so it can slide into the weapon socket (you can see the aftermath of that in the first two pics I posted). Soft plastic, so it's fairly easy to do, and then you just need to drill a couple recesses for your magnets. I've currently got all my Knight arms magnetized, and they swap easily between models. The only swap issue is with weapons that have an ammo feed: Styrix, Magaera, Acheron and Castigator.
