jeffersonian000
New GK bundle is now available from the GW on-line store. Has Draigo, a DK, a SR, a DN, Pallies, and lots of PA. Says its 34 models, but my count is only 30. Looks to be a NSF. HQ. Bro-Champ Elite. 5man Paladins Elite. Dreadnought Troop. 10man Strikers Fast. 10man Interceptors Fast. Stormraven Heavy. DreadKnight LoW. Draigo Any thoughts? The high amount of PA tells me GW isn't moving those kits, which could also be why the Ven Dread is in the bundle, too. It misses the meta by a bit, but does fit the fluff. SJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314102-ghosts-of-the-imperium/ Share on other sites
Kolvin
I'm pretty sure there's 10 terminators/paladins in that box. Didn't spot the brother captain though. I thought it was pretty nifty when I saw it. Sure the dreadnought won't see a lot of tabletop but you need one for a full Brotherhood. It's the only model I'm missing right now. Obviously that box isn't for me but it's a solid Starter kit. jeffersonian000
Your right, I missed that it is indeed a 10man GKT kit, not Pallies, and the Bro-Champ I thought I saw is a Knight of the Flame, apparently. That means there is no HQs. Got to love GW. SJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314102-ghosts-of-the-imperium/#findComment-4180173 Share on other sites
Captain Coolpants
What? It's clearly 34 models lol, 20 power armour, 10 Terminators, 1 draigo, 1 dreadknight, 1 dreadnought and a stormraven. It's odd how they've waited so long to make a bundle though. Reclusiarch Darius
Throne aflame, 661 dollars...aside from the 'I see what you did there', that's insane Everytime I see stuff like that, I die a little inside. GW is killing itself by pricing itself out of the market. Aside from the monetary cost, I'd say it's a great starter set. You can sell the Dreadnought and use pretty much everything else. Sadly though, it's cheaper to just get all the box sets seperately elsewhere. Frater Cornelius
Well, I like my one Dread. I use the Doomglaive variant in Zone Mortalis and it really pays off. Lurks around a corner to jump some poor unit and take it apart ;) As for the price, it is alright here in Germany. But the Australian did seem a bit high, but I do not know what the exchange rate is :/ Still, if I didn't own enough GK I might've gotten it + 1 HQ and play it as an army. Captain Coolpants
Yeah that's a point, it isn't even a legal army, you'll have to commit a terminator or 2 to get your hq requirement Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314102-ghosts-of-the-imperium/#findComment-4180284 Share on other sites
Prot
When I saw that package on the weekend the first thing I did was add up the items individually.... you don't save a dime on that package, and I know I have a box of dreadnoughts. jeffersonian000
I was pretty upset when Blood Angels got Librarian Dreadnoughts, and Grey Knights, the very next codex after the BA, didn't. We have an entire Chapter of Psykers, and its the Vampires that the Librarian Dread. /wrists SJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314102-ghosts-of-the-imperium/#findComment-4180410 Share on other sites

We have an entire Chapter of Psykers, and its the Vampires that the Librarian Dread. /wrists Yeah, it's pretty dumb. Maybe in the next update, GW will give us Librarian Dreads as a HQ or Elites choice, and discount the current 'basic' Dread so we get a clear choice (go for the slightly more expensive buff-machine, or take basic firepower). Of course, it's all academic, because Hull Points continue to be the cancer killing light-medium AV units. Hopefully Hull Points are gone or significantly neutered in 8th. Prot
Vehicles just suck.... I've tried buying into them. Especially the Ironclad in my Ultra's. The power of MC's just makes vehicles feel worse. It would be different if you could.... blow the arm off a Dreadknight, or 'stun' a Carnifex. Nope these are mechanisms reserved for vehicles. Add in immobilizing (vehicles only of course) Grav and it's even less reason to take a dread. Honestly the only value I see in dreads at all is in Ultra's deep striking them as Obsec suicide bots for cherry picking stuff. If Grey Knights get them at a reasonable price, sure I'd LOVE a Multi-melta, but honestly even with today's variants of Dreadnoughts I have to wonder how long we would use them before relegating them to the pile of other stuff we simply don't use. Reclusiarch Darius
The critical problem is that GW refuse to make Dreads either cheap, tough or deal enough damage to matter. They're always either exceedingly mediocre or awful, never amazing. Even Contemptor-Dreads suffer from this. They end up being so expensive, you look at most MC's and go 'I could take 2x MC's with minimal gear and do more'. Frater Cornelius
Yeah, I only play GK Dreads in fun games and Zone Mortalis. In ZM there are enough corners to hide behind.
