So, the other day, I decided to go back through my Book 3 Exterminaton Special Editions Art book and came across two specific pieces of artwork that I'll now share with you.

You might recognize them.

So keep an eye out for some interesting concept art, we might just see them in the flesh one day...

i think i posted them back then when they showed us both event only miniatures - i remember a discussion that the IW dude was originally a DG and the AL a SoH :P

but yeah, i think it's just a matter of time - if they have the time and passion and if the concept works, AND if GW HQ allows it (i'm looking at you skitarii!!!) they will do it ^_^

I knew the one with the mask was based on art from that book (man I want that book) but I didn't realise the IW was. Are there any notes about what they are? The masked one I thought was a SoH guy until the model came out.

No notes but they're both SoH; there is another variant of the Delegatus beside other concept sketches pertaining to the EC but it wasn't all that different.

Emperor's Children concept sketches?

Give me a few :p

Concept Sketches, one clearly going on to be an Actual Palatine Blade. Found on the same page as the Praevian. Also has the Delegatus Variants (judging by the helmets)

Theres a few more pieces in the booklet (dont want to post the whole thing) but these are what stood out to me. Most of everything else in the book can be found in Tomes 1-3 for the most part.

I really would love a big book of concept art to be released. I've always enjoyed looking at concept art, my favourite bit about White Dwarf when I started Wargaming 10 years ago was always the concept art shown with the designer notes for whatever new book was out that month. I especially would like it if it had notes about why they made certain decisions with the designs and explaining the processes.

Totally agree. Even a book 'producing the Heresy' showing the links between the old models from the 80s and what FW are doing now would be awesome, I love seeing the links people dig up that explain why many of the 30k models look the way they do.

...yes, but that's nearly 4 years old now, and FW doesn't make those kinds of videos anymore. There are so many other models & vehicles that could be elaborated on, collecting them in one place sounds like a good idea to me. More importantly, fans would be interested in buying it, so GW might be prepared to sell it.

Think of it this way too: the Land Raider is a famous model. Even people who didn't watch that video probably know what the old 2nd ed LR looked like. There are many models -  e.g. Mechanicum robots, Epic40k models, the predecessors to the Deredeo - that the majority of people had no idea existed, and when FW brings out a new model there's always a huge bunch who go 'what the hell is that!'. Books chronicling the links would put all the material in one place and be extremely interesting for avid 30k fans, even if they were just limited edition pieces.

yeah :/ sadly they don't even make the "HH Special Character interviews" anymore :<

funnily enough, i've converted the IW Praevian into a DG Praetor.

Is that a Stormcast?!?!

Anyways, back on topic (sort of), I would like it if Forge World still talked about the thought that they put into the model. Samus would be particularly interesting...
