Anyone else find 30k is absorbing the rest of their hobby?

Howdy, homies. I've noticed a trend with myself as of late - I can't enjoy other armies anymore. With the exception of 40k AdMech, I am totally disintereted in non-HH Warhammer. Every time I look at say, a Farsight Enclave force, my brain creeps back to something to do with my Iron Hands, or tells me to make a second Legion force.

Anyone else finding this? I just feel so much more at home here, especially with the relative lack of "GRR TOURNAMENTS MUST WIN AARGH" mindset.

I've tried so hard to make 40k CSM work well competitively, only to be met with frustration time and again. Then I discovered the diversity and balance of 30k, not to mention an awesome story supported by black library and FW, and I think it will be really hard to turn back to normal 40k.

I am just unable to stand the look of Mark VII and Indomitus armours anymore. Apart from AdMech, I don't venture into the "now" of 40k. The Unification Wars, Heresy, Scouring,Novaterra Interregnum and False Primarch War periods are just so much more interesting to me than the End Times where everything is crumbling apart. Good thing I started with a Legion army and have no "back" to look at.

30k is like....40k for grown ups... or at least that's how it feels to me. (Now don't get me wrong, I get that that is a statement made by a fully grown man who plays with plastic toy soldiers but still.)

Every release I see for 40K seems dumbed down and cartoony.  I cant help but feels that's a conscious move on GW part.  To the extent that even what I have seen of the plastic "GW Heresy" set doesn't impress me and wouldn't be worth not buying some more resin crack for (In my opinion).

40k lost my interest 2 years ago. Then all this unbound and other 'take everything with millions of bonus's' mentality has taken over.

I look at the fairly well balanced and challenging games of 30k as fun!

My tyranid and 40k blood Angels remain untouched and may be moved on to find other 30k armies.

I had completely moved away from 40k, but the upcoming Tau has dragged be back (Tau are what got me into Wargaming 10 years ago so I have a soft spot for them). 40k is not a shade on 30k though. However I also collect Infinity, Warmahordes and Malifaux stuff and I go through stages where I just focus on one.

I have no experience with 30k as a game but I love the Horus Heresy era, the heresy was actually what got me into 40k in the first place, I'm thinking of starting a force but the cost is a bit off putting, how are the games better for 30k than 40k? (besides the lack of unbound I mean)

I think, honestly, there would be far more interest in 40k amongst the users on this thread were there to be another major FW-style treatment of the 40k we all know and love. Like the Badab books. Most of the B&C is a mature crowd that prefers extra grimdark in their grimdark, and GW's moved away from that recently whilst FW's embraced it with open arms (massive oversimplification, I know) so no surprise really.

And yes. I've even set aside my own Sons of Tyr for the 30th/31st millenniums.

To me, everything in 40k is 'I have this massive gun and it dicks anything that comes near it, intercepts, skyfire, re roll misses and armour pen and wounds etc etc

It seems to have gone. Bit 1970s Cold War era escalation of one massive thing to the next with no real thought about the effects in game it will have.

I used to like 40k when things were fairly evenly matched. But things like sky hammer formations etc are just cheesy imo. And a shameless attempt to sell the necessary models to practically win t1..

30k seems more structured, with a bit of sense to it, objectives are the same except (as it should be in 40k) only troops can capture.

None of this everything captures craziness that goes on now.

You have to like the whole era as well though, legion lists play off the same basic lost with their own added flavours.

If you like painting lots of colours play40k, if you like common sense and more grimdark, tis 30k that is your game.

Well I stumbled across the madness that is The Brotherhood of the Lost some time ago. And now all my very limited little plastic space men endeavors are set in that crazy place.

Horus Heresy + nerds gone wild = BotL

I love the models that FW has done, but for me the real draw in 30k is it's setting. It just feels like proper awesome Sci-Fi. All the cool tech I came to love form my early days of 40k magnified a hundred-fold. Additionally as a grew older I started to realize how it made zero sense that over 10,000 years human technology had advanced about as much as cars had changed between 1970 and 1979. That just breaks my suspension of disbelief and lends so much more believability to 30k.

Long story short, 30k all the way.

Tried this 30k thing and got bored after a month . 40k Marines have more flavor so many Colors.

How long before the '30K isn't that great' crowd shows up?

Negative two and a half hours.

But, but, 40k has has all the colors though!
