Merciless Fighters - A second thought

Brothers and Sisters,

So a while back after getting mauled by the evil xenos that are the Tyranids, I had an idea when I was going over my notes. Why didn't I use my Sons of Horus Merciless fighter special rule to its full effect? Now I could be wrong in my interpretation of the rule being a new player, but I was reading through the grenades section and realized that there is no limitation to using grenades only during the Close combat phase; therefore I should be able to use my regular attacks and then use grenades during the Int step 1 phase of the rule. Sure it may only be a wound or two against monstrous creatures but every bit helps.

So by this effect I was thinking of adding a 10 man vet squad with melta bombs in a Dreadclaw using the tank hunter special rule. So based on the above idea, could I use krak grenades during regular initiative and then follow up with melta bombs at Int step 1 using the Merciless Fighter special rule? The rule states we only have to outnumber the, "enemy", and tanks are enemies too.

I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong sub forum but I was wondering if I was on to something or need a re-read of the rules.

You can only ever choose to fight with one weapon in CC be that grenades or Otherwise.

So that means either Krak Grenades or Melta Bombs or the CC Weapons they have where applicable.

Merciless Fighter only adds another attack at I1 if they've already fought meaning unwieldy weapons don't get the bonus and if you charge through Terrain without Grenades, they dont get the bonus, etc.

It doesn't let you re-select weapons to fight with for that Combat Phase.
