Mechanicus Monasteries?

So something I havn't seen in fluff but I wondered about... Do forgeworlds have monasteries built on other planets? Say, for example, an agri-world under lucius's domain with a large monastery of Tech-priests to tend to the machines and such on the planet?

Not a monastry like the SoB. Every facility of the Mechanicus is a temple of the Omnisiah. And nearly every planet has a facility of the mechanicus.

That sounds like that could be a pretty nice idea. Having the farming and harvesting machinery maintained from a few centralised machine temples sounds very 40k.

Yea, but I mean like a big base on a hill or something. Flame boy does have the idea though!

If it serves their purpose. The Mechanicus do everything out of reason. They calculate everything, if the ground could bear the weight of the facility, the infrastructur and such things. They don´t act like the ecclesiarchy.

Some kind of cogitator building, factorum or servitor facility would often resemble a huge machine temple, their own work is their temples, for all there work is with purpose and their work is praise to the machine sort of thing :)

Every world with a Telepathica link has an Imperial base with a Mechanicus stuff to maintain it. Every sector has remote relay stations to maintain and relay Telepathic commonications, which requires a Mechanicus presences to provide upkeep. Every Imperial spacecraft has a Mechanicus staff onboard to maintain the craft.

 

So, one could say that the Mechanicum is everywhere, even in the dead of space. And where they go, so is the Omnissieh.

So would those be considered monastaries? 

 

Also another question: do they ship all potential tech priests to forge-worlds to be trained or do they do local training?

Yes, they appear to be "monasteries" in the fiction, as they are treated as holy places inhabited by monks. As to the staffing a d training, my impression is that all Tech Priests are trained on Forge worlds, regardless of where they are recruited from. Most Tech Priests, however, are born into the service from which they will eventually rise to Priesthood.
