Tychii
Hey guys, just looking for some input with this army. Not sure if it is the most competitive, but I think i like the way it will play out. Looking for opinions 1460 Night lords HQ 195 - Praetor - art armour, Iron Halo, Jump pack,Trophies of judgement, Digi lasers, melta bombs, paragon blade 140 - Primus Medicae - art armour, jump pack, melta bomb, power fist Troops 185 - Tact squad w/rhino 185 - Tact squad w/rhino Elite 205 - Contemptor Dread, dual CC arms w/grav guns 195 - contemptor mortis, Twin kheres, havoc launcher Fast 330 - 10 Night raptors, 1 Chain glaive, 2 power axe, 2 melta gun 25 huntmaster- art armour, melta bomb, chainglaive 1040 Solar Auxilia HQ 80 - Lord Marshal Elites 185 - Enginseer, 2 Adept, 8 servo-automata-- 8 phased-plasma fusil Troops 775 - Auxilia infantry Tercio 3 dracosan Armour Transport - demolisher cannon 2 Veletaris Storm section , shroud bombs The extra dracosan is for the enginseers. The three Dracosans make a wall for the night raptors and dreads to move up. Ideally everything dumps out and assaults turn 2 or three. It is kind of like a mobile castle, if need be it can also just turbo boost/run first turn then dump everything out and strike. Thoughts, I have no idea if this will work or not, I just really like the Solar Auxilia and want to make them work with my Night lords Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314378-2500-nightlords-w-solar-auxilia/ Share on other sites
Caillum
Something to consider is that you don't need to take a Legate Commander for an Allied Detachment (why a Lord Marshall? No gear means he'll do nothing but grant Ld 10). He won't fit into any of your transports, and Imperial Army have Distrusted Allies with Night Lords, so he can't join any Legion squads. Why not take a Tank Commander in a LR Vanquisher? The Enginseer squad won't be able to start in the Dracosan, as it's not their Dedicated Transport. Will have to embark on Turn 1. The Night Raptor squad is going to be pretty nasty, but keeping it alive is hard. If you give one of the HQs the Void Shield Harness, they will be immune to small arms fire. Ideally, Curze grants them Stealth and Shrouded, which when added to the cover from the Dracosans means a 2+ save, but that's a big change to the list. At 2500 you'll start to face Primarchs too, so you'll need some serious firepower to counter them. Phased plasma-fusils are ok, but they won't do much against them given they're only AP3. Hope this helps! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314378-2500-nightlords-w-solar-auxilia/#findComment-4186990 Share on other sites
Tychii
Thanks for the input. I had no idea what I was going to do with the hq. The void Shield harness is a Great idea, and I'm sure I can find one points somewhere. Can the tank commander go inside a dracosan? For heavy units I was thinking weight of Fire with the volkite a, combined with the dracosan fire to hopefully slow them down. From what I can tell they are pretty slow. Maybe at that point limit I'll need to Rethink a way to deal with those lords of War threats Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314378-2500-nightlords-w-solar-auxilia/#findComment-4187061 Share on other sites
Flint13
*Always* find those 40pts for the void shield harness if you want to have an assault based list. At the very least, it splashes that first overwatch keeping your assault unit investment healthy and making sure you don't miss a charge because the first guy off the line catches a boltshell in the grill. Also, good choice on the Volkite Storm Squads. Those guys are amazing at 115pts with BS4 volkites that overwatch on BS2. Tychii
I could actually go With the night lords as the allies as Well now that I look at it. Maybe remove the dreads and add in either some las rifle sections with defence lines and quad guns for aa Or maybe some Hyperion middle Batteries. What is great for anti air/Death Stars . Keep in mind I don't want to use a dredeo because I class them as op. And my group has banned invis Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314378-2500-nightlords-w-solar-auxilia/#findComment-4187254 Share on other sites
Caillum
Tank Commander cannot go into Dracosan (and it would be a waste to do so): Leman Russ, Malcador variants or the Lord of War Super-heavies are your options. Xiphon is a cool anti-air fighter. Looks amazing too! Only 2 HP, so it's a bit fragile, but it will do the job well. Swapping the armies around could be cool. The Solar Auxilia are dug in, desperate for help, but they would rather have anyone help them than the Night Lords! :) If you consider the Deredeo OP, well... it is a great option, so don't immediately discount it. Yes, a lot of people consider it must-have, but that doesn't make it OP. Just about anything with melta bombs will end it in a round of Assault. Spartans are bloody good too, but 6 Graviton cannon Rapiers will shoot it dead in a round, leaving the contents stuck in Dangerous & Difficult Terrain. Most Death Stars will ride around in one, so there's an answer to that too. I agree with your group about Invisibility however - too much room for abuse in that power. 30k lists are considerably less like the crazy-OP 40k lists. It's the hobbyists that enjoy it rather than the tournament players. Don't be afraid to take heavy firepower, because realistically, you'll need it! Tychii
Hmm how about this, if I face a primarch or super heavy I feel like this list may still be lacking in punch. What it does have is weight of Fire and a few big blasts.
