Really needing to get my raiders on the painting block this eve and have been enjoying painting terrain so much I'm torn... Ugh. Also... Seeing all the infantry on people's painting tables has me wanting to get some dudes out to assemble- I did get 2 packs of Phobos pistols in the mail just yesterday... Ahhhh... Decisions

Can I just say how much I love an airbrush... I'm not a finesse painter with one yet but man throwing down 2 coats of paint in less than 40 minutes is the sh%#!!

Lion - you borad and army are looking stunning. I hope things aren't too bad in real life man. Hang in there, and looking forward to seeing you back.

In other news, I've only gone and actually done my pledge - I give you the Legio Tempestus sworn mechanicum!

I'll pledge to build a Landraider Proteus and a Legion graviton Rapier next, then try and sneak in some painting....

That is most impressive. Would you be willing to share the recipe for your White Scars scheme? I'm struggling with mine and aren't happy with the results

Zedmeister - If you have an airbrush it certainly helps for the vehicles as you can just spray black as a basecoat, spray the approximate areas you want to be red with Mephiston red and then use painters tape to tape off what you want to remain red (I use a black base for spraying red as I like the deep dark colour in the cracks for contrast against the white).

I then sprayed with the white primer over the rest of the model and did some basecoats of Leadbelcher on the metalics. To do all the washing I washed a mixture of the black and blue washes (I think its drakenhof and nuln oil) into the cracks.

The highlights were as follows:

Red - Wild Rider Highlight

Metalics - Runefang Steel Drybrush

White - Ceremite White Highlights on just the most rased edges

To finish I just threw some brown ink/wash into the areas that would require greese like the underside of the vehicle, the motor hub on top, and parts of the wire link on the guns.

Let me know if you have any other more specific questions.

Thanks chap. I've got an airbrush and was considering using it to do a lot of the white colour so its mainly the techniques you used for the White. I did a test batch a while back for one of the earlier monthly challenges and although they look alright, getting the brush blending from white to a light grey was a lot of effort and frustration and I'm not happy with the result. They put me off doing my Scars for a while. Recently, I've been wanting to give them another go and your scheme looks excellent

Thanks for the positive response guys!

@FireGolem - I'm pleased with them, really tempted to buy and paint a knight in the scheme, but I think I should try and focus on my Sallies!

@Reyner - Thanks man. I enjoyed painting a Legio scheme, and it'd be cool to see some legio Gryphonicus mechanicum. How is Ghost of Iron coming?

Here is some building work from me!

Hoping to get some painting done in the next few evenings and on Sat... won't pledge quite yet though!

Zedmeister - Honestly, I don't bother putting much effort into creating the fade as it happens in a subtle way on its own if you prime black and then prime white overtime in a single coat from a steep angle. The way the spray falls ends up leaving a touch of thin white area that lets the black show through a bit and then I just wash into the cracks and highlight. It feels a bit like cheating the process but I like the results. The red on your test models look tight.
