Which Legion/Aspect of A Legion Needs More Attention?

Recommended Posts

Proper Legion organisation.

It's still rather vague even after the forgeworld and black library books. It's like the codexes for 40K which still stick to the 1000 marine figure when it's obviously higher.

Ditto on the request above for logistics. How are marines resupplied with ammo during campaigns? Sure transports can cart the stuff to the fighting zone but how do the marines get the supplies from the resupply zone? That sort of thing.

Ultramar is a mini-empire of 500 worlds. If the legion isn't used in its protection (because it's a crusading force) who protects such a vast realm? Guilliman is head of everything so he must have a regent (who has a huge staff himself) who acts in his stead when he's with his legion. The number of military units in Ultramar must be massive so who commands them, are they under the ultimate command of the Primarch, what are the fleet assets of Ultramar?

Where does old armour go? That is the stuff that can't be repaired. Is it sent back to the local forgeworld for recycling, put on display, raffled off?

How were the legions created. At what point in the unification wars did the first marines appear? What impact did they have compared to the Thunder Warriors or were they mainly used on Luna while the Warriors stayed on Terra? Who were the first techmarines and librarians, did strike cruisers etc exist before the legions or were they built once the legions needed to go out into the galaxy. Next to nothing is known of the beginnings of the Great Crusade and the terran marines.

I'd also like to know more about the power armour that the knights of Caliban used before the Imperium found them. I'm assuming that like the power armoured soldiers that the humans of the Interex had, that it was smaller than the marines as the soldiers inside would have been smaller. What did it look like though, would it have looked more like the Thunder Warrior armour, crusade armour or something else?

FW has given us all the legion organization information they will. Chapter size is as detailed as they want. You're on your own at company level. The closest thing was LG breaking down company organization of TFE.

I was thinking more along the lines of x number of marines rotate guard/ceremonial duties; number of tanks in a legion, what type, who crews them, what units are they assigned to; legion fleet and how many marines are assigned to it, what their functions are.

The current stuff is a bit of background to the gaming figures and as such doesn't bother with a lot of extraneous detail.

Yeh, that's exactly why they will never give specifics. They learned from the stupidity of the 'Codex' shoehorning marines into a certain organization. Somebody once asked how many suits of mark four a particular legion had, and I told him enough to make his company. That's forge worlds philosophy for everything. You're never going to get a definite number one way or the other.

I've specifically talked to LG about this issue.

I would like a little more insight into what happened to the Night Lords in the gap between Judging Nostromo and the Isstvan Dropsite massacres

which I believe is a decade or two in length. I'm confused as to why the Legion was not censured or at least the VI sent to at least try. Also what did the VIII do for those years - I have my own ideas on which I will expound eventually but I'd like to know if the VIII continued the Crusade or carved out an empire for themselves...

Well we do know that the Emperor gave each Primarch a name, because in the Draigo novel, he banished Mortarion by using the name he was given by his father. It's never revealed, though.

Yeah, exactly. It's that that got me thinking about it. Trail of thought as I'm on a DG binge at the moment.

Tracey, maybe? Or Lenny? Or....

This subject fascinates me as well. I would love to hear your thoughts, brother.

More Templar  Stuff  without Sigismund Being the focus  I dunno I just really like Templars Okay

Wolf Stuff from other Great Companies

More Watchpack stuff !  ( Which i know is coming )

Sisters of Silence !

More on the World Eaters Post Angrons Change ( which im sure is coming )

Iron Warriors brotherhoods/lodges. We had a nice little sight of the kind of stuff they can do in Dreygur's fluff, now I want some Lyssatra xeno-daemon-tech by the Siege of Terra. But no big details. Only references to unknown classes of battle-automata in the livery of the IV legion being spotted on [irrelevant battlefield] phosphex-bombing civilians, a mere seargent bearing marks of high rank in the Dodekatheon, Burned Men unleashing forbidden weaponry on the White Scars on some nameless planet..

Honestly? More stuff actually relating to the Heresy, especially for legions like the Iron Hands who's book that was actually released was.. not really relevant in what happened in the wider picture. Meduson was good even if it was an Anthology of short stories which cost me a large amount of money because I could not make it to pick one up (This really annoyed me) I would just like to see a solid book.

I would add that the Death Guard need a lot more, but I am pretty sure we will get something decent and relating to the heresy on their part and hopefully not another Damnation of Pythos like book, or the Horus Heresy short with the Chaplain and the Destroyers. Daemonology was pretty good IMO.

I would LIKE to see some decent story in a Raven Guard book. Soulforge was pretty ok and The Shadowmasters was excellent. But Deliverance Lost? I could not help but cringe through that.

The rest of the Legions I imagine are going to get some big stuff soon i expect, with the Blood Angels managing to make their way to Terra, the upcoming White Scars book and the Imperial Fists are bound to get a book sorted.

Unrelated ish:  I would like to see less Hardback super amazing limited to X copies books before the Audiobooks come out or the paperbacks coming out within a short amount of time from the main release. We all know you are trying to make money out of us GW, but you could at least make some sense and milk a LOT more money and reduce copyright and illegal downloads.

brother, thou have sinned. Never bring 40k lore into 30k. The heresy is a place of logic and reason, and I will not have backflipping terminators, multilasers, Khornate Nuns, formations, unbound and all the other nonsense associated with legion purity. :P
