The_Gorgon
Hi guys and girls. I've been a long time lurker and admirer of the many amazing armies on this board. I've never previously owned forgeworld products. However my Mrs has recently treated me to the webstore exclusive centurion model as a gentle way of stepping into the heresy proper. Is there anything i should know that's different about working with forge world models? And on a lighter note i am struggling to pick a legion but think i have it down to either the fourth or the tenth. I love both legions however i am not a massive treadhead and so am leaning slightly towards the fourth. Any help would be greatly appreciated Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314688-beginners-help/ Share on other sites
Calas Typhon
Do both! Man I love the Iron Hands as they are the closest legion to myself and my nature, but the Sons of Horus and World Eaters are pretty great too with some solid backgrounds. I am in the process of creating a SoH and an IH force. If you want to stick to one and can't decide, Grab some cheap models and paint them up, see which one you enjoy painting the most. Marshal Loss
If you're completely new to FW models and haven't worked with resin before, check out this PDF from their website. Seeing as you aren't a treadhead, Iron Warriors definitely sound like more your cup of tea to me, but both Legions do very well with and without tanks. Perhaps read Book II Massacre (for the Xth) and Book III Extermination (for the IVth) to read up on the lore behind both Legions, as this may assist you in your choice? Their rules reflect their lore quite well and you might find yourself inspired, if you haven't read these books already Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314688-beginners-help/#findComment-4192433 Share on other sites
The_Gorgon
I am thinking it will be the iron warriors. I love trench warfare but can't paint the death guard scheme. And i also love the idea of solar auxilia meat shields for the corpse grinders Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314688-beginners-help/#findComment-4193957 Share on other sites
Excessus
Trench warfare is very much the IVth legion! Think WW1 in space and you are closing in... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314688-beginners-help/#findComment-4194064 Share on other sites
The_Gorgon
That's more like it excessus. Exactly what i was looking for in a legion. Tried a test model today and the basic colour scheme was quick and effective. In regards to the metal armour trim what colour do other iron warriors collectors recommend i was going to go a dirty gold but opted instead for more of a bronze colour. I'll post pics when i figure out how from my phone Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314688-beginners-help/#findComment-4194103 Share on other sites
