What would a scouring era Ultramarine force look like?

As you all know I'm busy working on my 30k Ultras on the side of expanding my regular 40k forces.

I'm a big fan of the "Avenging son" moniker that Guilliman eventually takes. I'm thinking about doing a scouring era force instead, using the Legion rules as the codex is still not in effect.

I'm curious, what armour marks would Marines be using commonly at this point? Would parts be mixed and matched like in 40k? Would mkV be unusual? Is VII in use?

*Edit* corrected nickname

When does Guilliman take that? I've never heard him referred to as it. I think if anything I've heard it in regards to Sanguinius but not Guilliman, he doesn't seem the "angel" type.

I'd wager mostly mk4. I'm not sure when 7 came in but 4 and then 3 and 6 for certain specialists. 5 is just a catch all moniker given to Mismatch parts with additional bonding studs.

MKVII is in full effect, but Heresy-era armor will likely remain most common. The Scouring would also probably feature more box Dreadnoughts, as the technology to restore Contemptors would likely start fading.

And no choom, probably. That's a shame, but likely the truth.

Ok... Would there be any limitations on the types of vehicles?

As I'm planning on using Legion rules my list would include 2 Sicarans and a Deredeo. They wouldn't be a rarity at this point I'm assuming?

Like Carnellian said, the main differences are going to be armour mark, and a shortage of volkite. The Scouring took 200 years and during that time the Imperium was probably pumping out new gear at a crazy pace to keep pushing the traitors out. The new story line The Beast Arises(I think) is about early post Scouring time and might show some of the losses in technology the Imperium had to prevent orks from getting it perhaps.

Eh, I'd imagine there would still be full use of Legion toys not available in 40k era, Choom included. Heck, I'd imagine some things being used for a long time after the scouring. But with the ability to restore or properly maintain them, they'll be forgotten relics by the 40k era. But that's 10000 years in the future. Even if the ability to reproduce were lost, exisiting pieces of hardgear didn't suddenly turn to sand. As the scouring ends, you'd no longer see mk5 armor I recon (wasn't the scouring only 7 years long?), but I imagine pretty much everything else, but in less numbers than during Heresy.

Ergo, you could use legion rules even after the scouring and still make it fluffy even for UM, you'd just have to structure things like a 40k list. Limit your choom to characters, vehicles, since the codex doesn't have legion support squads, that sort of thing.

Thanks.

I intend on organising the force like a Legion, but have it as an accurate visual representation of a post heresy, pre codex army.

For example I won't include any MkVIII armour.

It's good to know that mkVII was in effect however.

Part of my reasoning behind the Scouring idea is painting units that I can use in 40k and visa versa. I also like to add some modifications to kits like giving the MKIV marines that come with the Rapier Quad guns mkVII backpacks so they resemble 40k Marines more closely.
