Frater Cornelius
I am planning to delve into 30k Fists some time soon. However, if there is one thing I need to criticize about them, it is the colour scheme. I dislike the pure yellow. My question is, how much freedom is there to making a Company from any given Legion? Is there some leeway to the heraldry and colour scheme? If so, how much? The Red Thirst
Short answer, its your hobby you do what you like :) you have to look at the models once their done, dont feel forced into having them look a certain way, these are legions with literally hundreds of thousands of Astartes spread over hundreds of companies, theres bound to be at least some variation. Frater Cornelius
I was looking at a regal mix of blue and gold, as opposed to a full on yellow/gold approach, with a bit of silver mixed in there for some details. I like the fist heraldry well enough. I just like myself a bit of variation ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314917-how-individualistic-can-a-company-be/#findComment-4197074 Share on other sites
Fire Golem
As much room as you want. Specifically for Imperial Fists, just in the Forge World books there's examples of Fists in predominantly black armour. Slips
Also look at the heraldry of some Successor Chapters. You could use those schemes as Primary and use only one or both shoulders in IF Yellow & Black to tie them in. Im "blessed" in that I actually enjoy painting yellow and can consistently get results Im happy with. But that doesnt stop me from painting Predominantly Black Marines to break up the wall of yellow. Also, for Trim, If the model is mostly yellow I go for Silver with Heavy Nuln Oil Wash Trims over gold. Nicer contrast that way and its not as harsh on the eyes as Black Trims. Easier to get depth out of it too :p Another color Im really liking to use as trim is Warplock Bronze. A Nice dark strong color that I highlight with Auric Armor Gold. Frater Cornelius
Good point. Some successors where once Companies. That is a smart move to tell a bit of background for your DIY Chapter.
