Caillum
Just read the sidebar for the Damocles Command Rhino entry in "Book V: Tempest" and noticed an interesting tidbit: "...the Damocles was... less marked upon the battlefield than the poweful Spartan Hermetika siege command vehicles which were entering service during the latter days before the horror of civil war encroached upon the Imperium." Oh yeah! A command Spartan from FW would be awesome to see! Hopefully this is a potential model they make sometime down the line. Given they've redone the Spartan model to include the tracks on it now, maybe it has crossed their minds? Hesh Kadesh
The Fire Raptor IIRC was teased in Book I. A few others have been as well. Others, such as Mammoths have been mentioned in novels, and we're expectant of those. Good spot though. A command tank that isn't as pitiful as the Land Raider Tank GW made would be nice. Doctor Perils
Necro.... mancy! What with the Deimos Damocles up on FW, do you think that increases or decreases the chances of the Hermetika appearing ? Atia
Yep, the command spartan is on the to-do list (hence the tracks update) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315012-spartan-hermetika-siege-command-vehicle/#findComment-4255827 Share on other sites
Iron Hands Fanatic
Quick! Someone raise IHF on the vox! Haha, I was considering how the Hermetika would look for a while, but I got a bit stuck on how minimalist I should be in terms of the modifications to the base Spartan - but, with news that FW is looking to expand upon the base concept, I can put that idea to rest Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315012-spartan-hermetika-siege-command-vehicle/#findComment-4255977 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
I think it'd be awesome to have something like this [Caution: Nerdgastic wish listing below]: Spartan Hermetika Siege Engine - 375 points AV 15*/14/14 HP:5 Transport Capacity: 20 Access points: One assault door on each side of the hull (front assault ramp is lost) Special Rules - • Hermetika • Siege Mantlet* • Blessed Autosimulicra • Armored Ceramite • Assault Vehicle Weapons - • Two sponson mounted twin linked multi meltas • Forward Turret mounted twin linked volkite caliver Rules: Hermetika - This Spartan is sealed in a similar manner to the Achilles Alpha tank against a variety of tank destroyer weapons encountered during the Great Crusade. Any shots being fired against the front or side arcs of this tank with the Haywire, Lance, or Melta profile do not gain their special rule to damage the tank. Siege Mantlet* - this replaces the Spartan's forward assault ramp with sloping armor plates and a gigantic siege shield. It confers an AV of 15 already included in the model's profile. It also lets the Spartan reroll failed dangerous and difficult terrain checks. Options: - The Spartan may swap its multi-meltas for two flamestorm cannons for free - The Spartan may take a hatch mounted Phosphex Discharger for +15 points Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315012-spartan-hermetika-siege-command-vehicle/#findComment-4256011 Share on other sites

However when that goes so should the Assault vehicle rule. See the LR Proteus for example. Also why only Calivers? I would make it a TL Culverin as the equivalent to a heavy Bolter. Well my reasoning is that it's a bit silly since you can assault out of the side ramps of a land raider or Spartan like normal, or at least that my understanding, but it does limit which angles and how far your models can assault. I think it still remains its appealing nature, while being a bit harder to play with for assaults, especially with a reduced carrying capacity :) I don't think many people would want to have a shotty squad pop out of it since it seems like a pricy transport for that purpose :P My idea was that that gigantic ramp is replaced with that Achilles front armor plate just with a massive shield in the front to push through breaches. I was considering adding a flare shield option but that might be too much. The Caliver is just because it's in the same "class" as a heavy Bolter and heavy flamer. Like other options such as a Levi dread can go between a heavy flamer or Caliver option. Shaolin_Monkey
Fair enough I guess. In that case I would drop the transport capacity down even more. Maybe 18 or 15. Also on infantry the Culverin is the same class as the Heavy Bolter. Heavy squads take them instead of HB or Heavy Flamers. Same for Contemptors they can have a TL HB arm or a TL Culverin. Further the comparison to a Heavy Flamer is hard as the HF is often used as a replacement for TL Bolter (presumably a TL flamer is too hard for people) on dreads etc. so the Leviathan fits this too. It's a secondary weapon option. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315012-spartan-hermetika-siege-command-vehicle/#findComment-4256112 Share on other sites
Caillum
I feel like the Hermetika will be a Mastodon-lite. It could still have Assault Vehicle, but plonk an Explorator Augury Array on it for sure (and drop the capacity to 20). I like the multi-melta sponson suggestion. Makes sense on a siege vehicle. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315012-spartan-hermetika-siege-command-vehicle/#findComment-4256168 Share on other sites
Doctor Perils
Yeahthat's quite nice, but it definitely needs the explorator arrays,to represent the command aspect of the vehicle Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315012-spartan-hermetika-siege-command-vehicle/#findComment-4256396 Share on other sites
God-Potato of Mankind
A trio of Spartan, Spartan and Hermetika Spartan would probably be quite terrifying to fight.
