Weekender New stuff and reveals: heresy edition discussion

Leviathan Dreadnought  looks to be  something I need to get my hands on.  I just think it looks sufficiently brutal and assaulty.

I am fairly excited about the new Rights of War  , hopefully they will fill holes for some legions who cant  make effective use of thier own.
It also  makes the whole  " every company is a little diffrent" argument even easier

Oh man so much cool stuff. Though I'm excited about the possibility of Atramentar, I would prefer to know stats and costs ASAP so as to restructure my list properly and avoid buying stuff I don't need. GAH it's always such a double-edged razor with HH, on one hand I love the updating, on the other I hate what it means for my wallet.

Also. DAT DREAD.

IF ONLY YOU COULD TAKE IT IN TALONS!

I totally would!

1 Leviathan with one Claw, One Drill

1 Leviathan with one Drill and Graviton "Screw Your Tank" Gun

1 Leviathan with one Claw and DakkaGun

If only you could drop pod it. Kill-everything melee beast sounds great, but then it's slow, short-ranged, has AV13 and 4hp for ~300 points. Yeah, there's a 4++ and move through cover and that's cool... I'm not totally sold though. It definitely has some odd load-outs.

Like that Grav bombard... rolling flat 3d6 for armour pen is crazy dice-reliant. The odds are 16.2% to roll 14+ to pen AV13 or glance AV14, which is pretty much every vehicle you're shooting at in 30k. Utterly wrecks TEQ though, I didn't notice it made them take the Graviton toughness test on 2d6 until just a second ago. OUCH.

Whatever, it mounts a phosphex launcher so I will have one.

It's not only 3d6, there's double hull point damage too. And one of its ccw is armourbane. The grav gun and siege drill will make mess everywhere. Multiwound people shouldn't even consider charging one armed with the siege claw either. Just a whole pile of avoid like the plague and shot from a distance if you oppose it

Welp.

I just Noticed you can give the Leviathan 2 Storm Cannons or 2 Grav-Flux Bombards.

12 S7 Ap3 Shots or 2 Large Blasts of "Tests for Days".

Sure, it goes down to S8 and only 2 Attacks base but, hell, thats some mighty Dakka.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Really coming round to the dakkadred load-out, with XIVth legion shredding heavy flamers and phosphex launcher just for the heck of it.

Tough it's likely going to change by the time book 6 rolls around.

How much did the eddy change by the book? Or the xiphon? I don't think this will change much because it's going into a spoilt for choice slot selection and it's only really likely to see play in 2.5k point games being 270 without upgrades. With upgrades probably looking at 350. Which is a big chunk of army 2k and under for a ploddy death machine.

Can we talk about the most important news to come out of the Open Day? As expressed by Battle Bunnies:

Indeed not one Primarch will be at the event as it is not a dedicated FW event (something that I did not believe was an issue before).

So GW won't let Forge World show off a new Primarch because it's not their event? We can only guess at the reasons, but that reads like a pretty huge admission that Forge World's Heresy line remains more interesting than anything GW brings to the table.

Here's to hoping, now which legion to use it in? VIII or IX? Oh the choices....

Heinrich why not buy 2 and do 1 in each thanks to a wonderful box of plastic stuff due, meaning everyone who has pondered doing a second legion is just gonna go " well as I've got a whole plastic army in a box I might as well start legion X as it's cheap" ;)

I think if anything I'll use it for my IX Legion dudes since they're already geared towards siege-breaking (2 vindicators and all). Plus I think this thing will look sick in black and red ;)

That's just it... GW had the opportunity today to AMAZE us. They had potentially a global stage with all the internet buzz to announce the next big thing for 40k. Hell, even just a "Codex: X" and a cover would've been enough.

But no.

They wouldn't even talk about the bloody Tau Crisis suit update if you asked em I bet - and they're due next week. Even the god damn Ad Mech VS Tau diorama had no models that were due out later than those revealed today. How stupid.

As for FW - GW & FW are one and the same, the same company. Not showing off Primarchs for whatever reason is stupidity, really, I don't mind if its so far out that they aren't ready but showing to the public but showing Garro today was a bit of an insult... Luckily the Dread made up for that (as did the BA art on the Heresy slides).

Maybe with tomorrow being Space Marine centric with the GD and all they'll reveal plastic heresy. Or hey! The Tau got some new models in the past few weeks... Maybe they even have a codex coming and they'll announce that!?!?

I'm.out of likes for today but holy :cuss :cuss that dread. Grav death tank death drills dakka guns grav death and phospex death. My god I must own it. Who needs Spartans or rapiers now.

As fir the Primarch argument, total bull:cuss the WHW ope ING had Gulliman and that wasn't FW centric although it may as well have been.

In fairness to FW I think it's worth remembering that they have their own events to sell so it pays to have plenty of stuff to put on. All I can sat us the HH weekender next year is going to be unbelievable. Get the tickets early
