1k Luna Wolves Orbital Assault ROW

My friend let me borrow his LACAL, but I gave it back, so I may have some points costs slightly off, but this list is supposed to eventually be allied to my BA Legion and Auxiliaries. Here it is:

HQ: Praetor 145 Pts

-ROW: Orbital Assault

-Jump pack

-Paragon Blade

Troops: Legion Assault Squad 280 Pts

-Art. Armor on the Sgt

-2 Power Swords

Troops: Legion Tactical Squad 230 Pts

-Art. Armor on the Sgt

-Power Fist on the Sgt

-Legion Vexilla

-Drop Pod

Elites: Contemptor Dreadnought Talon 255 Pts

-1 Contemptor

-Kheres Assault Cannon

-Dreadnought Drop Pod

Elites: Rapier Battery 95 Pts

-1 Rapier

-Quad Mortar w/Shatter Shells

-Drop Pod

Total: 1005

Iirc, the points and techicalities are correct, and the way I'll use each unit is:

Praetor and Assault Squad: Close Combat Hammer, will DS in front of a horde unit, and hopefully make them fall back into the tactical squad

Tactical Squad: The Anvil, will DS behind the enemy's main army, and I will try to drive units into it

Contemptor: Anti-Infantry, will DS behind cover and will shoot from there

Rapier: Anti-Tank, will DS near cover and destroy whatever tank is most dangerous, and then destroy the rest

If my points are incorrect, please help me fix them, I will be getting my own LACAL soon, and also help me with improving the list

Thanks!

EDIT: Fixed the points, now it's 1005

- Praetor is 145 points

- Tacticals are 250 points

- Contemptor is 255 points

Pretty close given you were working from memory though! :) If I were you, I'd pick up Battlescribe or Quartermaster for list building (provided you have an iOS or Android smartphone). I use Quartermaster and absolutely love it as it's easily editable.

1000 points is pretty hard to build to in Heresy, given everything is quite pricey! You've gone for an odd number of Drop Pods, which is perfect. Assault Squads are really expensive though, so if you're not committed to them, I would field something else. 10 Tacticals with that much gear on them is also a bit risky. Putting some of those points into other things would pay better dividends.

If you're planning this to be Allies, swapping the Assault Marines to Reavers (with jump packs) would be perfect! You'd still have to lose an Elites choice, but I figure you have that covered. A Heavy Support Squad would be cool, giving you 1 of every slot for a perfect Allied Force!

Thanks Callium, so mabye cut the vox, the CCWs and... a power sword on the assault squad? I think that makes it 1005 Pts. I don't have the LACAL in front of me, and my memory isn't the best, but it should be something like that, without really messing too much with the list.

Yeah, that would be about right!

I played around with some lists using this as a base, but it's pretty hard to do much more given the points-level. Stick with what you have if you're happy with it! You can utilise the Assault Marines as Reavers in an Allied force anyway, so they will flex up pretty well. :)

You said you plan it to be attached to Blood Angels and Imperialis Militia... Nice!

Edit: just saw your post in Age of Darkness. Welcome to the Heresy!
