Brother Heinrich
Hey All, Back with another list. Trying to balance the models I have, with the theme of the legion, without exceeding 1750 points so I have a stable base to build towards 2500 when they finally release Sanguinius and whatever special units/rites the IX Legion is going to get. To that end I cooked this up last night: HQ: - Praetor - Artificer Armor, Jetbike, Iron Halo, Melta Bombs, Photonic Blade - 225pts - Command Squad - 4x Veterans, 4x Jetbikes, Melta Bombs, 4x Power Swords - 325pts Elites: - Contemptor Dreadnought - Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod - 250pts Troops: - Tactical Squad - 10x Marines, Sgt. w/Artificer Armor & Powerfist, Vexila, Rhino w/Dozer Blade - 225pts - Tactical Squad - 10x Marines, Sgt. w/Artificer Armor & Powerfist, Vexila, Rhino w/Dozer Blade - 225pts Fast Attack: - 2x Legion Attack Bike - 2x Autocannons, 2x Melta Bombs - 100pts Heavy Support: - Sicaran Battle Tank - Armored Ceramite, Dozer blade, Lascannon Sponsons - 200pts - Sicaran Battle Tank - Armored Ceramite, Dozer blade, Lascannon Sponsons - 200pts Total: 1750 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315302-1750-blood-angels-getting-ready-for-dad/ Share on other sites
Slips
Looks good to me; just dont lock your command squad into power swords; I'd at least take an axe or two for spme Ap2 punch. I'd get all axes, and shields if you can spare them. You've got a T5 unit to soak up a lot of the at initiative hits anyway. I'm always game for axes aesthetically, I just want to be sure I'm not ham-stringing myself. Though now that I think about it having the Praetor with his lightsaber of doom hitting at I-5 means he can thin the herd a little before the axes strike. Flint13
That's pretty much the only advice I was going to make with, is to sprinkle some axes in the command squad (totes not biased). Truth is power swords are about the only power weapon I'm not a huge fan of since they're so not specialized. Rarely does any 30k list want for more tactical marine killing potential, so I tend to stick to axes for can opening or mauls for Mechanicum hammering. Plus the IX lightsaber does absolute work regardless of target, so you have plenty of slack in how you arm them. Son of Carnelian
I guess I would look at maybe investing more in troops, since Heresy doesn't have the ability for anything to score. Two troops choices in nothing but Rhinos can get wiped out fairly easily in this setting. Of course, like a jerk, I don't know what I would cut out though. Brother Heinrich
Yeah I think I may just have to run this one a little risky and rely more on killing than on scoring and hope my opponent worries more about the sicarans, contemptor and command squad than the tactical marines. #livedangerously Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315302-1750-blood-angels-getting-ready-for-dad/#findComment-4207282 Share on other sites
Son of Carnelian
Thought about it a bit more. Cut out maybe one of the Sicarans for another Tactical Squad in a Rhino. But then you lose some killing power... I dunno man. This is the dance, isn't it? Jimm
Nice to see ba starting to make a showing in hh. Can't wait to start playing them although sad to say bye to my word bearers and their dirty tricks. Im tempted to stick with a paragon blade on my praetor (on a bike or jp) and use our relic blade on a jump centurion (prob a lib) to buddy up with jesus whenever his rules hit. Imo the praetor is good enough with his paragon and this way it bumps the ap2 at ini up. Like the double sicaran though, exactly what I'm aiming for which is why my word bearers ones are painted suspiciously like blood angels!! Yeah that does sound cool, though I'd worry about packing too much into a deathstar unit as it will draw 30k-level firepower like nothing else. Most people who have a BA guy in their heresy group have felt the wrath of the photonic blade, that alone has them gunning for the praetor, but throw Sanguinius in there and it becomes a threat-level-ALPHA unit.
