Stone and honour

Thanks to you all for the help st choosing my legion. I've jumped about a bit but was reading a post last night that had a phrase that made my mind up for me "men of stone and honour"

With that said I am committing to the vii and hope to have a test model to show you soon probably in the unification era scheme, could this scheme be used in the heresy era as a colour scheme of a company similar to the Templar scheme?

I don't see why not. Colour schemes before the codex seemed to be more... varied than older depictions suggested. You can easily explain away any anachronisms or exceptions in your force.

Kreigris  Includes Purple in his Marines  As you can see Jimbo 13 uses Crimson

Im doing the First Company  closer to the scouring and I  actually use Black as my main color

Were all sons of Dorn here , You hit a guy with a rock it dosent really matter what color you painted it.

I am using the Unification Scheme for a group of Terminator Huscarls.

Welcome to the VII Legion there is always more room along the ramparts and more dirty traitor scum that requires vanquishing. As far as you useing the unification scheme I see no problem with it just like a team wearing there throwback jerseys for a winter classic or the like.  Thats the great thing about the legions with such a large military body it is inevitable that there will be specialist formations.  I myself use purple to tie them into my old 40K homebrew and because i wanted to use something other then red

very work in progress so don't look to close

These are all awesome minis. I like how they all have individual touches but are all clearly sons of dorn. I was thinking of either the unification scheme or an early version of the iron Knights colours the light silver with gold hands and arms, use it as my praetors personal heraldry perhaps

They are lovely I particularly like the terminators and Templars.

I had a go at the fists scheme on a spare black reach terminator but wasn't happy with the results so I'll try to knock up a unification scheme model soon

Just a little rough fluff for my praetor that ties him into the later iron fists chapter. I'll hopefully have a quick practice scheme model of him soon before the forge world centurion becomes him later

The iron fist

Praetor won the right to paint his left power fist and Pauldron gold as a captain after Saving the legion masters life with his power fist.

When reunited with dorn as a praetor his company took his personal heraldry as their own steel armour with golden gauntlets and pauldrons. Due to his exploits he earned the name the iron fist due to his unyielding nature and battlefield exploits.

The company died almost to a man at the siege of terra defending a breach in the walls, the praetor falling in mortal combat with an iron warriors warsmith.

After the battle he was found clinging to life the only survivor of his company and was interred in a dreadnaught, upon learning of his companies fate he had his pauldrons painted the black of mourning.

Centuries later the a newly christened successor chapter adopted his heraldry and named themselves the iron fists in his honour.

Bad news guys i thought i was a loyal son of dorn but it turns out i was mistaken and am actually secretly alpharius.

This came from the fact that i keep going on to my Mrs about the cool units in all the legions and struggling to decide. And she said well what about these guys can't they take other units. And so its on to the alpha legion. Gives me a good painting challenge whilst letting me pick up any legion units that catch my eye without going off track too much

Had a try at the al colour scheme but it turned out a little dark I may skip the drakenhoff nightshade step next time

This recipe was on here but I can't remember the users name

Base black

Dry brush sotek green

Wash drakenhoff

Then I glazed it lightly with guilliman blue

I RESCIND MY PREVIOUS WELCOME AND EXPUNGE YOU FROM YOUR BUNK IN THE PHALANX EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!

No, but seriously, have fun. AL are pretty cool and flexible and you can do some pretty damn cool stuff with their Paint Scheme; just read up their Entry in Extermination when you have the chance.

I've yet to see an Amethyst Alpha Legion army here /hinthintnudgenudge
