Lord Blackwood
I have a feeling the first list is bad because its too many dreadnoughts >.> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315470-grinding-stone-and-templar-blades/#findComment-4212776 Share on other sites
Caillum
1st list - nothing wrong with lots of Dreads! You may as well split up the Contemptors as you have the slots (and it will give you more flexibility when deploying). I'd go dual Graviton guns on the dual claw Contemptor and plasma blasters on the other 2. 2nd list - same deal with the dual claw Contemptor. The Drop Pod will get him in position better than footslogging across the board. The Jetbikes are a great little anti-tank unit! Both lists - you could really use a Wall of Martyrs Bunker for the lascannon team, with an Ammo Dump. Will help keep them alive a lot longer and re-rolling 1's to hit is great (especially when they also have Tank Hunters). Both lists have a fair bit of anti-tank, so you should be ok. Super-heavies will be present at 2500 points I assume? Lord Blackwood
i dont think anyone is gonna run any super heavies , spartans may be a thing though im not sure, I know the one Iron Hands player owns one. Im trying to figure where I wanna cut the 85 points for the bunker though. Slips
In list 2, the main Cut you can make for ~30pts would be the nuncio-voxes on the Tac Squads. You're not deepstriking and you have no barrage and thus no use for them. Next would be downgrading the Plasma Blaster on the Dread to Graviton to bring the total freed up to 35. Melta Bombs on the Templar is iffy but, could potentially be cut bringing you up to 60pts. Armored Ceramite on the Deredeo would be another one since hes very unlikely to be in Melta Range and if he is and survives, it means hes going to get locked in CC and with his pathetic CC Stats, essentially dead at that point :p Total is 80 pts now. Now it gets a bit harder: Dozer Blade on the LR or Melta Bombs on 1 tac squad? Lord Blackwood
Also I did get to play this list this weekend and It was quite fun though the imperial fists were only allied here. +++ Knights and Knights and Knights (2500pts) +++ ++ Questoris Knight Crusade Army (Questoris Knight Crusade Army) (1195pts) ++ + HQ (445pts) + Seneschal (445pts) Questoris Knight Paladin [2x Bio-corrosive rounds for its heavy stubbers] + Troops (750pts) + Scion Martial (375pts) Questoris Knight Errant [bio-corrosive rounds for its heavy stubbers] Scion Martial (375pts) Questoris Knight Errant [bio-corrosive rounds for its heavy stubbers] ++ Legiones Astartes: Crusade Army List (Allied Detachment) (1305pts) ++ + HQ (230pts) + Sigismund (230pts) [Master of the Legion] + Elites (180pts) + Legion Rapier Weapons Battery (180pts) Legion Rapier Weapons Battery [Quad Mortar ('Thud Gun')] Legion Rapier Weapons Battery [Quad Mortar ('Thud Gun')] Legion Rapier Weapons Battery [Quad Mortar ('Thud Gun')] + Troops (510pts) + Templar Brethren (510pts) [4x Combat Shield, Melta Bombs, 4x Templar Brethren] Chapter Champion [Combat Shield, Solarite Power Gauntlet] Land Raider Phobos [Armoured Ceramite, Dozer Blade] + Fast Attack (185pts) + Legion Jetbike Sky Hunter Squadron (185pts) [Melta Bombs, Multi-Melta, 3x Space Marine Sky Hunters] Sky Hunter Sergeant [Power Weapon] + Heavy Support (200pts) + Legion Sicaran Battle Tank (200pts) [Armoured Ceramite, Dozer Blade, Lascannons] + Legion + Legion Astartes [VII: Imperial Fists] Funnily Enough two of the three imperial knights died but my warlord ( Who got IWND ) and The Templar Beatdown Bus worked pretty well , The Sicarian continues to prove its worth its weight in gold. The jetbikes were ... meh , I think maybe im playing them wrong or something because outside of killing a tank and inflicting some okay casualties they didint seem terribly effective compared to everything else like its fair to say they got out performed by the Thudd Guns quite handily. This was a very fun list >.> my opponent even had fun or so he said It was also a fairly close game XD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315470-grinding-stone-and-templar-blades/#findComment-4219153 Share on other sites
Slips
Thats the thing with Jetbikes. They're low model count with limited Special Weapons unlike outriders meaning you want to make the most out of your special weapon. A Multi-Meltas Single Shot per turn isn't likely to do that. A Culverins 4 Shots are more likely to but, they are easier to mitigate than a MM's S8 Ap1. And when you have melta bombs, a Single MM shot might not be worth all that much. Also 3 Models, 2 Heavy Bolters (6 Shots) 1 MM (1 shot) isnt much in comparative Pew Pew Power when you could take a barebones 5 man HSS Squad with HB for roughly the same cost. You mainly have to use their mobility to your advantage such as cutting off people or herding them in. Youve got a point , It might be that I should just shelve the unit for a bit until I can get it up to something like 6 bodies cause as it stands now It seems like I coulda used the points elsewhere ( though thats not exactly true since it was an allied detachment so only one slot for everything and I dont own anything else in fast attack XD ) So ive noticed that Knights while still alot of fun also suffer a bit from the sheer amount of haywire flying about but atleast I dont have to feel bad about usin em Sigismund is really good until people stop accepting challenges which is dumb I wish there was a way to constantly force people to accept his challenges ( RITE OF WAR PLS ) the +1 Initative on the charge is just so insane for him and his boys Im debating trying out some pride of the legion since ill be able to make some veteran tactical boys soon , though it seems kinda pointless , the bodies rarely are the punch of the army its like ...everything else The Quad Mortars are probably the best thing ever , they are just solid all around I find myself firing the shatter shells a lot. Lord Blackwood
Im trying to debate if I should pick up another Deredeo ( would make 2 total ) or another Sicarian ( would make 2 total ) im not sure which would serve as a better thing to have an option of repeating Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315470-grinding-stone-and-templar-blades/#findComment-4222844 Share on other sites
