Heresy Space Wolves

Morning all,

I'm going to start 30k SW in a couple of weeks. I've ordered;

5 Cataphractii FW

wolf guard bits GW

combi weapons FW

termie weapons FW

I've wrote a fluffy 2k list that comprises of 21 Terminators (both types) 3 land raiders and a Anvillus Drop pod.

My question is how easy do you think it will be to convert the Cataphractii to look more Wolfy?

Also this will be a log of my progress.

Hello!

Welcome to 30K and finally another Wolf :)

Cataphractii, should be pretty easy to convert up, depends what you plan to do though. For me, so far it has been minimal conversions and mainly paint work. It's gonna bve good to see someone else's take on the 30K Fenryka

Hjolda!

If Prospero Burns is anything to go by, then what you need to do is throw pelts over your models, no helmets, mostly bare-headed or with ornately stiched leather masks. The older the Wolf, the more ornate their armour. Some also have personal heraldry, that signifies their personality or traits on their armour or masks.

Trophies and trickets like beads would also be useful.

Cool, because Alphas are my second choice legion, if I ever get out of doing Wolves smile.png

If I ever get a second (or third) box set. I will do it as the batle of the Alaaxes system, and have a Wolf, Alpha face off.

What sort of ideas do you have for conversions?

Skeletoro, did press moulds from 40K PA Wolves and put them on his terminators for example.

Depends. For hammers, axes etc then yes the erminator box is better, for little doo-dads, there isnt much between the sets, The power armoured set will give you more variety in bare heads.

Things like wolf pelts etc, can be made with GS or paper.

The ony real advantage is that buying the Wolf Guard terminator set will give you another unit of terminators to play around with.

The 40K Indomitus pattern terminator armour is compatible to 30K, it is just very very rare.

I actually like using GW dwarf bits from the longbeard/ hammerer sets.

It isn't really rare in-universe, it's just that many find it too ugly to be fielded in comparison to Cataphractii or Tartaros (or even still model-less Saturnyne) patterns. The Imperial Fists in particular are noted as having a great contingent of Indomiti.

In Fact, Indomitus would be the most common, tbh, since it isn't the most advanced suit (Tartaros, based off of Mk IV) not the Oldest we currently have access to (Cataphractii).

Its just that Its so ingrained into 40k, that to really give your stuff a distinct 30k Feel, you're better off going with Tartaros or Cataphractii even if both types would have been the rarer variants.

Either way, 30k legions had whole Terminator Companies so there was no real shortage of the suits up-to the Closing Days on the Heresy / Scouring.

The only thing to be Mindful of is: NO CRUX TERMINATUS.

Why get a 4++ SnP when you have the only true Stormshields of all the Legions. I kind of see why IF would have them :D
