As for the legions I like Salamanders. Made this list for fun the other day and it makes me happy:

 

HQ:

• Forge Lord - Artificer Armor, Refractor Field, Cyber Familiar, Dragonscale Shield, Rad Grenades, Thunder Hammer - 155pts

 

Troops:

• 10x Tactical Marines - Sgt w/Powerfist, Vexila, Landraider Proteus - 375pts

• 10x Tactical Marines - Sgt w/Powerfist, Vexila, Landraider Proteus - 375pts

 

Elites:

• Firedrake Terminators - 5x Firedrakes, Sgt w/MC Thunder Hammer (lol) & Dragonscale Shield, 4x Powerfists, 4x Dragonscale Shields, Spartan Assault Tank w/Armored Ceramite - 650pts

• Contemptor Dreadnought Talon - 2x Contemptors w/Single Multi-Melta - 350pts

 

Heavy Support:

• Sicaran Battle Tank - Lascannon Sponsons - 175pts

 

Lord of War:

• Vulkan - 425pts (Armored Assault ROW)

 

Total: 2500

 

 

Lovely list, but my only nitpick is the rad grenades. Sallies seem notoriously against using contaminating weapons. That said, a Terran, Mars trained Techmarine may be a bit naughty like that.

 

So to summarise, Sallies are like 30k Greenpeace that way. They believe in war as a purifier to allow the construction of something pure. If you lay waste to a field like the Death Guard, nothing can be grown or built on that land for centuries due to liberal use of phospex and radiation weapons.

 

Imperial Fists are very shooty with bolters. If Fury of the Legion counts the +1 BS I would cry facing them. They also have decent non-terminator melee.

 

Iron Hands are ridonkulously strenk at not dying in droves, which seems contradictory considering their efforts at Istvaan :D

 

Both Sallies & IH have good armour (IH's are better and have better supporting RoW) but Sallies can get 'refractor fields' for use against incoming heat weapons for their tanks. Sallies get better terminators and flamers. Pyros are beastly. Put them in an assault transport with melta bombs and there's very little they can't lay waste to. Armour = melta bombs or S6 Melta. Infantry = werf flammen at them. They're also sexy models. Sexy sexy models.
