Frater Cornelius
I have the same problem of not being able to decide. The solution? Play Mechanicum and connect the fluff of your army to whatever Legion you want at the time, instead of choosing a Legion and yearning after the others :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315614-how-many-legions-is-too-many-legions/page/2/#findComment-4214977 Share on other sites
OneOfOneThousand
Chaos help me when Dark Mechanicum land - that's when i'll be tested for sure! Although have a feeling the Army of Calth may come back on the painting desk at that point... SalvationOfReason
You may only start another legion after assembling and painting approximately 100 000 Alpha Legionnaires, all of their vehicles, ships and support staff. Technically, that just means you paint up 100,000 Astartes in various color schemes and units. After all, aren't we all Alpharius? Frater Cornelius
There was a statistical survey that there is a 98% chance that your opponents army is just Alpha Legion in disguise. There is an equal chance that your army is also the Alpha Legion in diguise. M@verik115
Each of my models have a tiny alpha legion sigil hidden under all of their paint. Whether marine, guardsman or tau. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315614-how-many-legions-is-too-many-legions/page/2/#findComment-4215059 Share on other sites
Leoric
I think one Legion is enough - for the beginning. You will be certainly carried away with the new, shiny stuff Team FW brings out every Friday, but you will still stand strong, and stick with your only Legion force, until you finish it. And if not? Who cares, 'cause THE HERESY TRAIN HAS NO BRAKES!! Now, back to work on my Questoris Knight. I have to finish it because there are still some Iron Hands, that need assembly and priming. And, of course, there are my new Emperor's Children models... Oh, and don't forget the Sons of Horus arriving in December. Alas, that plan for the combined Imperial Fists - White Scars - Blood Angels force bothers me too much, I'm sorry, but next year I have to do something with that idea too... Corsovitt
Personally I'm doing two Legion forces the First and Eighth (Dark Angels and Night Lords) this is because I dont live that close to any club/GW that I can easily get a game of 40k at the club im part of is mostly historical wargaming but they will play most things if the armies are provided... How many Legions do you want to do? This is your hobby after all On a further note potentially the rules for shattered legions will be in the next FW book so you could wait and do a combined force of several legions. Edit - I meant 30k not 40k... Son of Carnelian
For me, I think I would cap it when you're working on legions that you don't care about anymore. I would never make a Space Wolves force, for example. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315614-how-many-legions-is-too-many-legions/page/2/#findComment-4216242 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
How many is too many? 19. There's only 18 Legions. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315614-how-many-legions-is-too-many-legions/page/2/#findComment-4216244 Share on other sites
Corsovitt
I wouldn't want to make a full space wolves force but I would like to do a single watch pack for inclusion in an eventual shattered legions force Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315614-how-many-legions-is-too-many-legions/page/2/#findComment-4216303 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
There is only about 4 Legions I fancy doing. Â Space Wolves (obviously!) Alpha Legion White Scars Sons of Horus. Â Too many legions is when: Â 1) Your partner leaves you because you love you r little plastic men more than them 2) You plan to have 18 kids and name ach after a Primarch.. 3) You run out of cash and have to sell one of your legions to buy another one.. noigrim
You could limitate yourself to parcels of the heresy story, for example I've got emperor's children vs iron hands to play Isstvan V and planning on just eight arimes for the siege of Terra. The armies you should make shuldn't be more than 2k since you won't be able to play higher points games in an afternoon. I would counsel you to stick to one legion up to 1500pts and then switch to another one, if you constantly leap between legions you won't be able to finish any of them. Memento Of Prospero
Well technically, 22 is too many. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315614-how-many-legions-is-too-many-legions/page/2/#findComment-4216720 Share on other sites
Skalpynock
How many is too many? 19. There's only 18 Legions. Dusk Raiders. Warborn Nemesis. Luna Wolves. Corpse Grinders. Iconoclasts. War Hounds. Storm Walkers. Saturnyne Rams. Are these really the same legions as their later incarnations? In blood and numeration, they are. Sometimes the similarity ends there. That's not the point of the thread, but depending on how you count them the number can go up to 36.
