Zoatibix
Hey, folks After almost two years out of doing anything much with 40K the new HH actually has me excited about playing the game.* Anyway, I really like the Iron Warriors Schemes and quite like that of IF, their traditional foe. As I would actually like to be able to play the game with more casual friends I could initially start off by swapping out the UM/WB colours schemes and then build on from there with whichever legion I prefer. I'm guessing it technically doesn't matter but if I keep the models in their respective pairings would one be more suited to the IWs or IFs? (And yes, I know the answer is probably buy two sets and paint a set each but I'm going to try and be good! Plus I might order some FW shoulders to tart stuff up a little.) I'm also interested to know what Legion pairings other folks will be using for this game. Thank you. * Because I got tired of SM players complaining about my SoB PA saves, or moaning about losing in CC to 'stealers, or folks with WAAC lists. Dantay VI
My pairing is going to be Space Wolves vs Alpha Legion to ercreate battles fought in the Alaaxes Nebula :) Plus, it might help get me kickstarted on a small AL force Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315675-boc-alt-paint-schemes-pairings/#findComment-4216799 Share on other sites

Black_out
Keep the terminators and tac vets together for IF and the infantry blop plus dread for IW. I think that's how they paired the box at least. Judging by other responses here either I'm missing something or they are lol. Zoatibix
Thanks for the replies, folks. I've decided to go with Dark Angels for the loyalists (never thought I'd hear myself say that hahaha ) My first WH40K models were RTB01 SM that I painted black with red chapter markings for a homebrew chapter. Looking at the 'old school' missile launchers, etc makes me feel quite nostalgic for those models....which are still sitting in the loft. They look a bit dinky next to modern models. Plus I can use the models to be a Consecrators force in 40K. Might prompt me to finally do something with the two Dark Vengeance Boxes I have. I'm thinking of doing them as Guardians of the Convenant. That way I can use my modern DA models for something while still using a single codex but having a nice visual distinction between the two forces. Still not sure on the Traitor Legion to pick for BaC. The fluffy option seems to be Night Lords as mentioned by Atia (Thank you for the list, by the way!) But I'm not sure my painting skills are up to making them look good. Poorly painted Night Lords look pretty iffy, IMO. Well painted ones do look pretty neat, however. Or Alpha Legion....gah! I did play Khorne and Slaanesh CSM back in the day ...the purple and gold of Emperor's Children would really contrast with the dark and monastic vibe of the Dark Angels. Hmmm...feels like a few old AoBR Marines will be playing 'test model'. I once had over fifty termagants in different 'test schemes'. Think this will probably wait until I move house and finally get back into the hobby groove but thanks again. If it's the lightning markings - FW has some on their decals sheet also - Curze vs Lion should be awesome :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315675-boc-alt-paint-schemes-pairings/#findComment-4219282 Share on other sites

Dantay VI
Dark Angels and Space Wolves never had a fleet engagement where they clashed in significant numbers, they also never had a large scale fight. Jonson and Russ slugged it out, and after that there were honour duels, but not much more unless I have missed something. Black_out
Space Wolves? *gags* I think not! My first suggestion was going to be Night Lords based on the Thramas Crusade but you're the one worried about botching the paint scheme, bro!
