Strahn
Brothers, Is there any lore behind why only Blood Angels have librarian dreadnoughts? I wasn't sure if it was just a tabletop thing with having the BA having a unique unit or if there was some deeper thinking. Jolemai
This is on page 167 of Imperial Armour volume II second edition. It in the section about Dreadnoughts: It's not much but it's a start. The reason the practice is unheard of elsewhere is that a wounded psyker becomes a huge target for Daemons due to their control being much lower. Blood Angels apparently have better control (we had to combat the Red Thirst in addition to everything else) which may be why we feel it's worth the gamble. Servant of Dante
I like my special snowflake dreadnoughts. I also like seeing the blood Angels as finding even greater purity (awesomeness) through the flaw. This does both of these things Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315719-lore-question-about-librarian-dreads/#findComment-4218076 Share on other sites
Xenith
Also, after Magnus (and before the traitors started practising sorcery, and retcons) Sanguinius actually was a powerful latent psyker, and has visions of the future, etc. This followed through into his sons, who also have a greater psychic attunement than their peers (generally speaking). Grey knights only recruit those that are already psykers. Blood Angels recruit everyone, and those that develop psychic ability, tend to have a greater psychic attunement than their peers (generally speaking) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315719-lore-question-about-librarian-dreads/#findComment-4219054 Share on other sites

I never understood why the Stormraven was initially released as a BA and GK vehicle but the librarian dreadnought has not been made available to the GK yet. Just speculation but: They already have psychic Dreadnoughts The FLD is incorporated in a BA box. If it was a generic, standalone kit, then it probably would have Perhaps the designers at the time wanted to GK focus to be elsewhere? Quixus
Of course you can find justification to not give the grey knights FLDs, but it seems weird that a bunch of guys who have the potential for the strongest Psykers in the Imperium do not have more than ML 1 psychic dreadnoughts with fixed powers. It needn't be exactly the same rules as the BA ones (same as with the Stormraven), but force weapon, a choice of powers and an ML upgrade would be very fitting. Or maybe no force weapons but two pslencers. CaptainHelion
Iirc, Grey Knights only very rarely entomb warriors into dreadnoughts, as they by and large consider death to be the end of their service, deserving of rest in the Tombs on Titan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315719-lore-question-about-librarian-dreads/#findComment-4220001 Share on other sites
