Capt. Tates
Morning, Starting a Pre Heresy SW army and I'm struggling to find heads for my Cataphractii. I want bearded dudes. I've bought; Cataphractii Space Wolf upgrade pack Is there anything else I could buy for bits etc? Any links to non GW stuff? Thanks. Amarog
Apparently some of the dwarf heads are a good fit. The iron breakers or long beards I think. As for others I've only really used the gw ones. Also chaos warriors and the chaos warrior cavalry have good heads. Grotsmasha
The design of Cataphractii armour is fairly prohibitive for bearded heads. The un-helmed Cataphractii head stops just below the bottom lip, your best bet is to cut down a bearded head and imagine the rest of the beard inside the armour, alternatively you could then add in a bearded via Green Stuff. Dantay VI
If you want to do full heads I would suggest getting either the Nurgle terminators and convert them, or Justaerin terminators and convert as I did. You can at least then use a whole head, but maybe trim the beard back. Chaos Marauder heads work well. CaptainStabby
The Puppetswar Norse and some of the Cossack heads are quite good. Also it looks like they just did a set called Valhalla Warriors that look like sci-fi Thor helms... hm I may need a set of those, I think Arjac Not-thor needs a proper winged helmet. CaptainStabby
The thing to be mindful of with the Puppetswar heads, in my experience anyhow is that they run a bit small. That may end up working out for a Cataphracti head space, but on regulard marines it can be kinda dicey. It may be sculpt specific though. I ordered a bunch of their crusader helmets and they are teeeeeny, but the Samurai ones are properly scaled. I'd reccomend a cheap test order before a bulk one. I have a whole bag of Norse and Cossack heads intended for my Wolves....Wayyyyy to small for Power Armour. Like, they would look super goofy with my other bareheaded Wolves (SW and Chaos Marauder) So sad. Trying to find a use for them. Maybe the Kaerls I want to try some time... Token
Are the Puppetswar Valhalla heads/helmet/thingys small? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315764-alternative-heads/#findComment-4221817 Share on other sites
CaptainStabby
@kassil I dont find those bareheaded ones to be too bad for power armor, they arent really much off from chaos marauder heads imo. Or even some of the FW resin bareheads. Metter of taste I suppose though. They look awesome for Wolf Scouts though full stop! @token dunno about those they are brand new I havent seen them in real life yet. Token
Anyone ordered something from Puppetswar? They said my stuff should arrive in 3 weeks, or something like that. Seems like a pretty long time. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315764-alternative-heads/#findComment-4236407 Share on other sites

Cheers, Jono The BaC CATAPHRACTII are actually not that hard to work with. There is just a flat plate that you need to chop off, with just a little more work a full head will fit fine. HellChyld
Spellcrow has some really Nice heads I plan on using with my wolves. some in the kits look better then others. http://www.spellcrow.com/wolves-space-knights-veterans-torsos-with-heads-preorder-p-378.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315764-alternative-heads/#findComment-4245263 Share on other sites
Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
my problem with spellcrow is that when they miss, they miss WIDE. some of those are atrocious. If i could buy individual pieces...well then its a whole other story.
