Captain Idaho
Friend of mine is interested in playing me at 30K but only if he can use his Catachan Jungle Fighter models (costs). What options are there for him? What non-Legions are there? Cheers people. Kol Saresk
There's the Solar Auxillia, which are used to represent the Imperial Army. They're in Book 4 Conquest I believe. nevindar
The imperialis militia in Tempest (book 5) is more or less a decent diy list for most armies of any creed when it comes to humans so to speak. Might be worth to check out! //Nevindar Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4219233 Share on other sites
Captain Idaho
I'm getting Tempest :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4219235 Share on other sites
Caillum
Definitely Imperialis Miltia. Much more customisable than Solar Auxilia, and can probably represent Catachans better than SA. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4219241 Share on other sites
Lucien Eilam
Yeah, all the Solar Auxilia stuff is running around with a 4+ void-hardened armour save. The Imperialis Militia/Cult list from Tempest is the 40k Guard proxy. ThatOneMarshal
Your friend will want to run imperial militia. You basically get lesser versions of doctrines from the old 4th edition guard book which can probably make a better catachan list than a regular guard dex can. Captain Idaho
So the Imperial Militia is in Tempest? My ideal book. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4219412 Share on other sites
Doctor Perils
Cool for the doctrines I just wish there would be a proper Imperial Army list with stuff like boarding imperial army troopers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4219664 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
Boarding Imperial Army? That would be Solar Auxilia. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4219763 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
The Militia List, as stated in Tempest, is meant to represent everything from feral warriors, conscripts, and abhumans slaves to the professional defense forces of the worlds they defend. It is the third tier of the Imperialis Auxilia, we have not yet been given a list for the second tier, which is the Imperial Guard equivalent. Fire Golem
The Militia list is much more fitting for Catachan models than the Solar Auxilia list is, as people have said. SA are pretty heavily armoured, which doesn't fit with the Catachans and their vests. Ishagu
The Militia in Tempest has very customisable army rules that can be used to represent a variety of forces both fighting for and against the Imperium. Also... Maybe your friend will fall in love with the word bearers rules and models which are also represented in Tempest :-P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4220039 Share on other sites
Captain Idaho
He seems very "Guard" oriented. We've never played 40K together, only (ahem) Fantasy so I don't know for sure his style. I'd like him to go all "cultist" though so I can feel like I'm culling the enemy :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4220245 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
Depending on his fantasy army, he could play Empire State Troops or Bretonnian Men at Arms as well... Captain Idaho
Oh, do people think that Sergeants should have power fists and Artificer Armour? Lots of people seem to build lists in that link with that combination. Noserenda
Its relatively cheap and punchy, thus popular :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315772-what-mortal-lists-are-there/#findComment-4220501 Share on other sites

Ishagu
Oh, do people think that Sergeants should have power fists and Artificer Armour? Lots of people seem to build lists in that link with that combination. PF and AA in 30k is the same price as a single PF in 40k. With the Artifacer Armour they won't get punked by anyone with a power sword before they get to strike. It's a decent combination if you don't want a combi weapon... Captain Idaho
I used to love my power fist Sergeants. I don't mind having a combi on him though, since he'd fire it before combat most of the time. But the blob squads won't need a combi weapon. Not much point when you fire nothing but bolters eh.
