Codex Page Template?

I've been working on a custom army, and have nearly gotten to the point where I can start taking pictures of them and putting together the mock-codex I've got planned.  Most of the heavy rule crunching is already dealt with (though when Forge World gets to Prospero, I expect to have to change a lot!).

I'm looking for a template for a Codex page, could be in Powerpont, Word, Works, etc, if anyone has one, or a good idea where to look, that would be extremely helpful.  I think I can rough one up using a mix of Word and embedded spreadsheets, but that tends to be pretty sloppy.  The look I'm going for is closer to the 7th Edition Codex (full size picture), though I'd be happy to work with one of the older styles (small thumbnail-ish picture).

The only two scanners I have access to are pretty much useless.  Also, the scanning idea is not as useful as it tends to end up with a heavily distorted image and is not really editable for size and such.

The army is a mix between Imperial Guard and Space Wolves, with a much heavier emphasis on Space Wolves.

That second part sounds like the problem isn’t so much the scanners, but lack of knowledge on graphics editing on your part smile.png

A scanner shouldn’t give a distorted image; if it does, it’s probably either broken or some setting in the scanning software is seriously wrong. Or, it could be that with “distorted” you mean that in the scan, you can see the curve of the page — in that case, you need to press the book onto the glass better, which works best with a page near the front or back of the book, rather than one in the middle.

As for size and such: all images on a computer are editable, but for best effects you need to learn how to use the tools to do that. This may take a bit of effort at first, but it’s knowledge that will probably come in handy a lot more often once you have it.

Curvature distortion was what I was referring to mostly, and the best way to avoid that is to rip out a page, not something I want to do on one of the newer books I spend $30 or more on, though I know where to get older codexies for around $2.

I'm not overly skilled with photo manipulation, my actual training was in audio/video recording and editing.  All that aside, the more recent codex all follow a similar layout, I was merely seeing if anyone had a template already created that might make it faster to create pages that recreating the template every page.  A scanned and edited image is one thing, but an actual template is another.  I can already replicate the basic layout of one of the pages.

Fumbled together a page layout, which was what I was actually looking for.  Three columns, with the central one as little more than spacer.  Still not perfect, but it's getting there.  I can save the pages later as PDF and layer on pictures and the like.

Is this in the word processor you intend to use to put the text in? And the central column will be used as a spacer only? Then you’re far better off having only two columns with some space between them smile.png

Again, is this in the word processor you intend to use to put the text in? Then saving as a PDF first is a waste of time and effort — setting up the page so you can actually work with it in the word processor will be much easier.
