Suggestions on Blood Angels

So, I am looking for suggestions on a force of Blood Angels I want to build...

I will have the Calth boxed set, 12 jetbikes, 3 rhinos(the older ones, not the newer ones), and a few(about 3) Cataphractii Termies.

I was considering Pride of the Legion, but am a little indecisive. Thoughts?

Pride of the Legion is always a good way to start, but I would personally run two standard 10 man Tactical squads in Rhinos as you'll be able to use them as compulsory troops for your force as you build it up in future and as you might want to conserve points for more interesting units.

One squad can definitely be customised into a Veteran unit, or perhaps two support squads if you can get your hands on a few extra weapons from the sets. This is all entirely up to you of course, 3 Veteran Tactical squads played correctly can be very effective :-)

Blood Angels will be getting rules in the next book, apparently, so keep that in mind.

Are you planning on any other vehicles aside from the Rhinos?

Was thinking

Praetor w/4 Command Squad all on jetbikes and Volkites

10 x Veteran Tactical Squad w/ 2x meltaguns and a Sgt w/combi-melta in a Rhino

20 x Tactical Squad w/additional ccw, vexilla, nuncio vox

5 x Termies all with volkites, 2x powerfists, chainfist, 2x Lightning claws

6 x Jetbikes w/2 x volkites

Sicaran

This is all very generic, just a broad idea here.

I echo the suggestion to start with 2 sets of 10 Tacs in Rhinos as your core. Pride is a bit prohibitive due to unit cost.

As for your list, why not drop Pride and instead of the Vets play a Support Squad with Meltas or Plasmas? You need something to handle AV. If you face a wall of AV13, Knights or Spartans, you will have a hard time dislodging them in a timely manner, especially since most will be able to avoid those TDA. Also, maybe get a Phobos for the TDA to get them into melee faster? When you go up in points that is.

Lastly, can Jetbikes get a sarge? If so, a Melta Bomb will not hurt (not hurt you that is :D).

I would build is pretty generic until the rules hit. However, you can also try Pride. The difference in models will not be as big. I think it will be best to try it out before you glue the models. Maybe you like Pride more than vanilla ;)

As someone in a similar position to you (making lists using the box) u can say that pride makes for a weak list. Vets look great on paper but then you remember they're just 3+ dudes with bolters. Very expensive 3+ dudes with bolters. Tacs are better scoring units, plus they get the chance to unleash a fury making thier bolters even cooler.

Jet bikes are ace, essentially being terminators with speed. Get a tank Preator in front to tank the nasty shots and add a primus medicaew(if they can take a Jet bike) to help :)

Rhinos are great too, if the enemy have to spend an expensive tanks shooting to kill a 35pt box then you've won!

Why not no Command and just let them join a regular jetbikes squad? Reduce point costs? I was considering a praetor in termie armor in a unit of terminators with a Spartan... 2 tac squads in rhinos, support squad(maybe in a rhino with some form of AP2), unit of 6 bikes, unit of 3 bikes, and a Sicaran...

Thanks, bikes would have volkites and be loaded with meltabbombs with no Sgts.

The termies would all have volkites as well, assault2 is just nice to have with them, did I mention they would be 7 strong? The real question here for me is how many in the support squad and with what weapon load out? Plasma guns or meltas? That would put the list at just around 2k depending on all the upgrades.

Annnnnnd I would still have a Contemptor sitting around... Choices are rough!

1. Bikes, Spartan, and rhinos

2. Sicaran, volkites terminators, plasma/Meltagun armed support squads

3. Meltabomb carrying jetbikes, termies with power/chainfists, Spartan with Lascannons, support squad as in option 2

Obviously I can alter some things, like put multimeltas in the bikes for anti armor projection or Volkites for more infantry killing. With the meltabombs, getting into CC to use them shouldn't be too difficult for them what with that speed.

Or am I being too optimistic? I figure the list is relatively flexible and has a little something for everyone.

Spartan and Rhinos are great, as is the Sicaran.

Jetbikes are fun to use, they can be tricky but they can also get the job done if played well.

An easy to include unit, and one that is relatively cheap to buy, is the Rapier Quad Mortar. A few of these can bolster an army with potent Anti-Tank and Anti-Infantry firepower.
