ElectricPaladin
I'm looking at my Warhammer 30k collection (well, the collection I'm going to have soon), and it seems to me that if you reshuffle the models into different squads, I could have a reasonable Warhammer 40k army as well. Take a heavy weapon out of one veteran tac squad and a special weapon out of the other one and put them into a tac squad, and you've got a 40k tac squad. Firedrake terminators are thunder hammer/storm shield terminators in funny-looking armor. Storm eagles and contemptor dreadnoughts are all available in 40k, and any regular dreadnoughts I might decide to acquire are usable in 30k. And rhinos are - of course - rhinos. Has anyone else found that this is the case? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315882-do-i-have-a-40k-army-now/ Share on other sites

Dantay VI
Barring one or two things (Legion Glaive) I have intentionally built my 30K army so it can be crossed over. The differing grey colour just represents veteran status in my 40K army Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315882-do-i-have-a-40k-army-now/#findComment-4221311 Share on other sites
ElectricPaladin
Well... that's pretty cool! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315882-do-i-have-a-40k-army-now/#findComment-4221332 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Yep, but at the moment I am close to 2 veterans per regular trooper :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315882-do-i-have-a-40k-army-now/#findComment-4221335 Share on other sites
BlueBelly1863
Yeah plenty of overlap!! Plus the great thing is that you can do whatever you want with your fluff to explain any discrepancies in armor or weapon variants that may not work out. For games you may have to clear up a few "play-as" conditions with your opponent but that shouldn't be a big deal! Viva la Gaming! ElectricPaladin
Heh. You know, if I'd known, I might have just built 30k Blood Angels, given that my current 40k army is already a Blood Angels successor... but what the heck. Salamanders have always been a close second for me. Carlson793
First game I had at my FLGS, I brought a 30K Salamanders list. Since the shop wasn't allowing 30K (no one was familiar with the specifics), I replaced the HQ I had with Vulkan He'Stan, adjusted the number of bolter marines to account for the points difference, and it was a perfectly legal list. LongGone
I'm a bit...surprised that this is coming as a surprise. From the beginning, there's been very little that you couldn't crossdeck into a 40k game. It's as if it was planned all along... From the beginning, there's been very little that you couldn't crossdeck into a 40k game. It's as if it was planned all along... Somehow I expected there to be less crossover. Or, at least, I thought it would be harder to reuse the models from a 30k army to make an effective 40k list. Dantay VI
NAh, the crossover is a big part of the appeal. Not all of us can afford multiple FW models, especially the big ones for 40K use and then another for 30K. The models are the same, and in 40K can be used as relics... In 30K they get cooler rules to distinguish them from the modern counterparts :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315882-do-i-have-a-40k-army-now/#findComment-4222031 Share on other sites
