Sinthos117
Due to the incoming plastic Heresy kit, my local store has been infected with a fever, and it needs more Forge World! (And cowbell, never too much cowbell) That being said, we are splitting ourselves up between the legions, and I have the honor of representing the big man himself, Horus. having read their rules and browsed the forums, I have great hopes that this can be both a fun and fluffy legion. As such, here is my second attempt at a 2500 point list, the first having been tabled by Night Lords while learning that Reaver squads are awesome. Let me know what you think! HQ Malgohurst TROOPS Breacher Squad-20 man, 2 Melta guns, Melta Bomb Reaver Squad- 10 man, Jump Packs, Power Maul, 2 Power Swords, 2 Melta Guns, Melta Bomb, Artificer Armor Reaver Squad- 10 man, Jump Packs, Power Maul, 2 Power Swords, 2 Melta Guns, Melta Bomb, Artificer Armor Reaver Squad- 15 man, Jump Packs, Bane Strike Bolters, 2 Melta Guns, Melta Bomb Reaver Squad- 15 man, Jump Packs, Bane Strike Bolters, 2 Melta Guns, Melta Bomb ELITE Rapier Weapons Battery- 2 gun, Laser Destroyer Rapier Weapons Battery- 2 gun, Laser Destroyer FAST Tarantula Sentry Platform- 2 platform, Hyperios Anti-Air Missile Launcher Tarantula Sentry Platform- 2 platform, Hyperios Anti-Air Missile Launcher Tarantula Sentry Platform- 2 platform, Hyperios Anti-Air Missile Launcher The idea behind it is that Malgohust and the breachers saty in the backfield to grab objectives and kill deep striking enemies if at all possible. The rapiers are obviously ranged anti-tank, and the tarantulas are self explanatory. The reaver squads will move around in groups of two, one bolter and one close combat. The jump packs will give them speed, while the melta will allow them to kill armor. The bolters will shoot into a squad, and then the CC squad will charge them. They should have no problem finishing them off, especially with the merciless fighter rule. As a side note, our group is looking for fluffy armies and to have fun. Yes winning is important, but I don't need a tournament level list here. Thanks again for any insight. norngahl
Your are incredibly light on tanks, anti tank and very heavy on troops. At this point level I will throw dreadclaws, contemptors, fire raptor, sicarans and a superheacy in your face.. And you are going to footslog into all my firepower and will be dead before you can make your meltaguns and meltabombs work. Especially meltaguns don't cut in 30k, as anything truly important has armored ceramite. If you want a fluffy sons of horus force, go for speed. Fire raptors/ storm egales, reavers in dreadclaws, sicarans, lightnings with kraken penetrators and phospex. I'd assume for a fluffy and rather nice list Mal 2x Reavers with AA/MB/PW sergeant, chainaxes for the rest in dreadclaws Lightning with double kraken penetrator missiles, phosphex bomb, servitor and ground tracking Fire Raptor with reaper cannons Double Sicaran with Lascannons (only 1 Lightning) or Heavy Bolters (two Lightnings) as base. God-Potato of Mankind
2 guns per Rapier battery? 3 or bust, unless you're splitting to save costs. If you have a horde of rapiers you have some fire support. Lots of Grav-cannons would work well. Sinthos117
Thanks for the input ya'll. I am hearing much of the same from my local group, so changes are in order. Tarantulas will go away, Rapiers need play testing and the meltas depend on the meta. Our group is just starting, so seeing a bunch of heavy tanks or any super heavies is not to be expected. PastelAvenger
Never buy chain axes even for 1 point they are a waste. Reavers are really versatile but equip them to do one job either assault or shoot not both. I always run 1 Power Fist and 1 Power Sword for every 5 Reavers, the Chieftain should always get a Power Fist. Running them in pairs is a nice idea but I don't see it working. I run a Black Reaving list at 2.5k which is fun but difficult to use at times. Have fun! norngahl
Chain axes are totally worth it for 1 point per model. In times of solar auxilia, militia and mechanicum (or vs 40k) they are the cheapest powerweapons ever.. Reavers are better in CC rather than shooting, so gear them for this way. 1 powerfist and powerweapon for each 5 is a little overkill and adds up quickly imo. Personally I go for 3 PW for 10, anything hard like terminators or other elites get shot anyway, so I use them to clean up the leftovers..
