Ishagu
Ok, so I've never had much interest in this tank... Until I realised that it can be a Heavy Support option for the Solar Auxilia! I would love to ally these guys in and bring a random Super Heavy to the tabletop. Then I read the rules for the Infernus variant with chem munitions... I want it! I don't have Conquest but will probably pick the book up after xmas. I need advice on how I can put together a 470 or 500 pt Solar Auxilia allied detachment that will feature a Malcador as I can potentially get the tank for Xmas instead of a Falchion. I also want the 20 strong squad of guys as troops. What would be the best cheap HQ? A tank commander? Can he be placed in the Tank to save points? Also, is the Demolisher Cannon Malcador worth it for that tripple las cannon + Demolisher cannon firepower? Does anyone own these kits and if so what Sponson options do they come with? Caillum
Tank Commander is the go-to HQ for a Solar Auxlia allied force. Put him in a Vanquisher (which is a Fast Attack choice) and you're sorted. Leaves your Heavy Support slot for a Malcador Infernus with chemical ammo. :) Troops is up to you, but I'd go for Veletaris Storm Sections in demolisher Dracosans. Keeps with the tank theme. But if you're only looking for 500 points, with a standard Malcador, you're pretty only going to have enough for a Tank Commander, Malcador and Troops. You can probably equip the Malcador any way you like though. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315970-guys-talk-to-me-about-the-malcador-in-solar-auxilia/#findComment-4223692 Share on other sites
Ishagu
That's exactly what I want. 20 bodies and a super heavy to boost the force from 2k to 2.5k. The Malcador Infernus is a monster, especially since he can have preferred enemy infantry to boost the poison 2+ Hellstorm, torrent template. What are the best Sponsons for the Infernus? Autocannons or Las Cannons? Also, is Chem munition mandatory in a Heresy environment? Iron Hands Fanatic
Just to let you know, Solar Auxilia Leman Russes don't get sponson weapons. Charlo
This is exactly the type of allied continent I am looking for. Noserenda
The Infernus is a monster, Chem munitions are a solid chocie, the sponsons dont really matter, id just chose whichever fills the whole in the rest of your army IE Light or Heavy AT firepower. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315970-guys-talk-to-me-about-the-malcador-in-solar-auxilia/#findComment-4223728 Share on other sites
Hesh Kadesh
Grav rapiers as elites (or Grav gdenade techpriests if you want a little different with Triple Infernus as HS. Veleteris in Dracosans to mop up. Ishagu
So, tank Commander, 20 Auxilia infantry with their long range guns and a Malcador Infernus with Chem munitions, Las Cannon Sponsons and a Multi laser comes to 475 points. I've found my perfect allies :-D More bodies on the table and a super heavy infantry killer with a truly scary gun that I don't have to trade my Primarch for! I can easily shave a few points and also bring an Aegis defence line :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315970-guys-talk-to-me-about-the-malcador-in-solar-auxilia/#findComment-4223855 Share on other sites
Hesh Kadesh
Just a note that unless taken as part of a Fortification detachment (which may be denied as a result of rites of war), Aegis Lines are sadly Primary Detachment only options. That's ok with me, just makes my choices easier! Ahh, it's good that I've discovered this. In a month of so I'll be done with my Heresy Ultras and didn't know how to expand them. Solar Auxilia mesh very well in terms of both the infantry boost, rules and this brilliant Tank that will hopefully divert attention away from my Primarch... Btw. does anyone know what options the Sgt has that comes with the 20 man Auxilia unit from FW? Just a power sword, or is there a fist/axe/standard gun option? Reyner
I think you get either the pistol and sword combo or a standard lasrifle. The Storm Section squad leader comes with the pistol and power fist or a volkite too. Black_out
Good lord, Ishagu this is the best thing I've read all morning. A primarch AND a super heavy at 2500pts? Yes please. Reyner
So tempting to give this a go but I would go for the regular Malcador for looks >_< so cool lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315970-guys-talk-to-me-about-the-malcador-in-solar-auxilia/#findComment-4224221 Share on other sites
Ishagu
I actually think the Infernus looks best, dragging that barrel behind is super ww1 retro. It's also a really cheap and easy allied detachment. Las rifle unit, Malcador tank, solar Auxilia tank crew (to represent commander). No messing, converting, buying multiples or anything :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315970-guys-talk-to-me-about-the-malcador-in-solar-auxilia/#findComment-4224227 Share on other sites
