Frater Cornelius
Hey, I wonder how to equipment my Auxilia. I am running 2 or 3 blobs of 20 Thralls and I like an auxilia unit to ride behind them in a Land Raider or Triaros for a well-sized +1 FnP bubble. What how to equip them to make them useful? Full sized? What weapons? They aren't Relentless, unless I missed something, so it is worth giving them Multimeltas? Cheers ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315997-tech-priest-auxilia-loadout/ Share on other sites
Terminus
This unit should never leave its transport (that has no fire points), so there is no need for weapons. If you have points to spare, you could give them all flamers. Or you could use those same 20 points on another Adept so you can have two chances to repair the transport. Brofist
360 points for 8 tank hunting multi melta shots, a triarius transport, and you can still give the auxillia other toys. Not a bad deal. 1ncarnadine
But the melta shots are BS3 and there's risk of armoured ceramite. And no Relentless on a Heavy weapon... If I do want to take out AV reliably it's only 345 for 3 Graviton Secutors in a Triaros. Probably the better investment, with maybe a 4th Secutor for good measure. I think if you're going to run them as Lacryaemarta you're best off keeping them as cheap as possible. Maybe fit the automata with flamers as Terminus suggested? If you're Reductor you could add a Nuncio-vox to the Adept for Barrage spotting, or if you're Cybernetica a Cortex Controller would be alright for more 24" control bubble redundancy. That's probably about it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315997-tech-priest-auxilia-loadout/#findComment-4224671 Share on other sites
Terminus
The tank hunting auxilia with multimeltas and adepts with graviton guns works best with a relentless Magos attached. 1ncarnadine
That certainly works. Bonus points for a Djinn-skein/Cognis-signum to fix their atrocious shooting. Actually, the Cognis-signum is in the wargear section of the Taghmata book but is there actually a unit in the list that uses it? I can't seem to find any.. Frater Cornelius
Hm, say I take Calleb with his retinue. It says the unit must have a guy with Reductor. So, can I take a unit with two Adepts, one Reductor and the other one Lacryaemarta and gain both effects? It does not seem to say that both Adepts need the same upgrade. If that fails, just naked in a Triaros? That is still around 200pts for a bigger and more protected bubble. Really worth it? I can think of better investmemts for the one transport that I own. Brofist
Yep, a cheap magos or legion IC makes the tank hunters work. You can drop them down in a lighter to save on points. Even with armoured ceremite and BS3 they have an 80% chance to explode AV14 and the range means they stay clear of whatever might be inside. Certainly not game breaking, but I wouldn't scoff at it either. I think they're a fun little unit. Hesh Kadesh
It is questionable whether being in a transport actually counts as being within range of the unit. The rules basically boil down to 'it doesn't say you can't', which allows me to field my Space Marines with Destroyer eye lasers. Frater Cornelius
Bubble effects are measured from the hull of a transport when the model is embarked. Hesh Kadesh
Can you quote the relevant text, or give me its immediate exact heading in the rulebook please? It is good to know for future. After all, that was the issue with the Power Field Generator. Frater Cornelius
Gladly. Page 80, right column, 4th paragraph: If the player needs to measure a range involving the embarked unit (except for its shooting), this range is measured to or from the vehicle's hull.
