Homeworld- Vercos Delta

 

The Delta Guard are a Sucessor Chapter of the Imperial Fists formed to garrison the Relic World of Vercos Delta in the Ixaniad Sector of the Segmentum Obscurus.

 

Vercos Delta houses several relics from the days of the crusade, several priceless texts and recordings from the early days of the Imperium and most notably the Contemptor Dreadnought Stelios, one of the youngest of the contemptor models who was interred in the sarcophagus after near mortal wounding in the closing days of the Horus Heresy and the Delta Guard are tasked with the protection of these relics and the nearby planets.

 

Due to severe warp storms and the chapters somewhat insular tendencies led to a lack of communication with the High Lords of Terra and the wider Imperium leading to a lack of knowledge and wider recognition, something that suits the Delta Guard just fine.

 

The downside of this is that the chapter rarely receive delivery of tanks and replacement equipment from forge worlds and their techmarines spend a huge amount of time repairing armour and equipment.

 

Tactics:

Due to their duty as guardians of the relics of Vercos Delta and the administrative personnel inhabiting it, the Delta Guard focus mainly on defensive warfare, forming firing lines, due to their lack of supplies from the Imperium and a need for constant upkeep of their armory, they have very little in the way of tanks and no bikes or land speeders and relying on infantry. A favourite tactic is to deploy several drop pods out of their strike cruiser forgeguard that is in constant orbit of the planet to surprise any attackers. 

 

Recent history:

The Delta Guard have spent the last 10 years working closely alongside the Crusade of Marshall Stavroforos of the Black Templars in combating the Dark Eldar plaguing the sector alongwide the rampaging orks of Big Mek Wobblibitz. This has led to several strike teams from the Delta Guard 6th Company going off world for the 1st time to provide fire support for the more close combat orientated Black Templars.

 

 

POA:

Chapter Master Philius Kreig- Philius has led the Delta Guard for the last 40 years and has continued with the chapter's mission to guard the relics of Vercos Delta whilst developing and promoting the alliance with the Black Templars. He is tall, even for a space marine and wears the relic suit of terminator armour Certus Pede and bear the orihalcum vestements, a master crafted thunder hammer on par with the fist of dorn, and a storm shield. He usually leads the Delta Guard from the front, charging from his Land Raider accompanied by a squad of terminators.

 

Chief Librarian Phobos Kreig- Phobos is the true brother of Chapter Master Philius and the most powerful Librarian within the Delta Guard. Phobos has recently taken to leading the strike elements of the Delta Guard working alongside the Black Templars. Due to the Black Templars opinions of Librarians he operates from the strike cruiser Hammer of Justice leaves the day to day dealings with his 2nd in command Captain Faciem of the 6th Company.

 

Captain Letum Faciem-Capt of the 6th Company, Defender of the Forge. Captain Faciem commands the 6th Company, tasked with

supporting the Black Templars. Faciem's somewhat unorthodox outlook lends him to be the perfect liason to the Templars. He leads the second of the strike teams and works closest with Marshall Stavroforos.

Seems like a good start. I'd like to see more about the chapter itself, though. I do kind of like the whole defensive gun line set-up you have going on. Do they do that because they were created to protect that world, to compensate for a lack of vehicles, or a combination?
