Storm Eagles, Fire Raptors and Sicaran Tanks

So I have little to no experience with forgeworld resin. Ive been eyeing the sicaran tanks and the fire raptor/ storm eagle kits. I've heard nightmare things about the eagle/raptor and I've heard some issues with the sicarans as well. Are all these kits ok to get with almost no experience or should i just look at things like quad guns and the land raider or spartan kits?

Well, luckily for you FW made a 20min video on how to work with Resin and this one specifically deals with a Spartan!

Though everything discussed in the video applies to Resin in General. Some luck also comes into it on whether or not you get a 100% good cast or one you immediately return, sadly. For the most part its usually just some small minor detailing work you have to do to get it right so dont sweat it too much.

FW Resin is always daunting the first time especially when you start with Vehicles.

My first ever resin kit was a forge world storm eagle. I'm not saying it was easy, (because it wasn't) but I did get through it pretty well. Had to ask them to send me a replacement part for the rear door, and to be honest I wish I'd got them to replace the missile pods too, but mainly it was just a matter of cleaning up a few details. There was some warping on the side panels too, but as I own a couple of flat wooden boards and a kettle they weren't too hard to sort out.

Yeah my Sicarian was a beauty to put together, easier than most plastic tanks!

A lot of issues with the Spartan were with the tracks, which they have apparently fixed, no idea with the Storm Eagle.

Id consider a hybrid plastic/resin tank to start, literally a stepping stone :)

Also, Purity seals are great for covering little blemishes you cant write off as battle damage ;)

I've had a nightmare/windfall experience with a fire raptor kit. A buddy of mine ordered a raptor and the kit was so botched FW sent him a complete new kit. He gave the kits to me to try to put together. They were the most infuriating modeling experience I've had save a Mkiib fw land raider. They look nice, but be prepared to really put some time into the construction for raptors.

I built a Warlord Titan.

And I still swore more while building the Storm Eagle.

The problem with the kit, is that the mold for it is pretty old and has a good deal of mold shrinkage, which means nothing on the model kit fits perfectly. Every seam, and i mean everything requires some degree of sanding/greenstuff/dark sacrifice to coerce into fitting.

I can vouch for the hatred of the fire raptor kit. I still have the inside door bulkhead lying around, due to getting to that point, trying to fit it in x times, and just ending up going 'screw this'. But once you finish it, tis a beauty. It was my first FW resin kit larger than a marine, and I've found that though it might be difficult to start with, after that you'll (almost) never find a kit you can't put together. View it as a baptism of resin ;) But go for it, and pray for a good cast.

The chassis on my Fire Raptor is slightly twisted and I only noticed it when I attached the guard on the Avenger Bolt Cannon. It is a bitch to put together as it is the ball turrets don't sit in the spaces and I've yet to see the top wings line up
