GhostMalone
I thought I'd start a Imperial militia list; Now I'm considering 2 ways of building this. First is to use catachans for my inducted levis and fire support squads as there easy enough to come by. And then use Imperial scions as my grenadiers etc. The second way was a full vastroyan army using Valhallans as my inducted levis. Now I'm not fully familiar with this army or its play styles. So my general thoughts are; Imperial commander Platoon Squad 3x 9 Ogryn with shields 3x 3 sentinels 3x Autocannon 6x lascannons 10x fire support with Autocannons 2x 50 inducted levis with Las locks 2x malcadore defenders 3x leman russ 2x Plasma 1x vanquisher 1x bane blade. So that's the bare bones of the army so what are your thoughts? Lunar Centurion
Uhm... two things. Wrong sub-thread (It should be in the AoD armies thread). And what points cost is this? What tactics will you run? What unit will do what? How will the Ogryns get into CC? helterskelter
I'd maybe spread the levy love into 2 30's and a 40? Just to have a better spread more than anything. 2 big blobs are hard to shift granted but In theory you could do it in 2 turns with a storm blade rapid blasting it's main gun at them, assuming this is rocking the 2.5k mark. Slightly smaller footprint I.e easier to hide, plus 3 squads means they'll last a smidge longer. Lack of dedicated anti air wouldn't really matter either as you have loads of stuff. Any air support the opponents may have can't take on everything Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316049-so-since-everyones-getting-boc/#findComment-4225558 Share on other sites
GhostMalone
Well actually it's not an army list it's a spit balling for a project idea and im looking for input. So it's not the wrong forum. Yeah I was looking at the army idea and I think I'm looking at catachans and scions using the survivors of the dark age and alchem jackers. I'm thinking of maybe allying some mech for the AA I'm missing but no one runs any Flyers currently. Other than myself. I'm thinking of bringing the Proteus in for some survivability and dropping the inducted levis for Grenadier squads so I can get my 3+ Armour save. It seems whilst searching the interwebz there weren't that many militia armies. Now I'm all up for variety but is it just not a reliable army Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316049-so-since-everyones-getting-boc/#findComment-4225657 Share on other sites
helterskelter
You say that but it just needs to take off in the right way, needs some good PR. You know you can do it Kurama. Heck you could tie it in with one of your existing projects and go with representing a rogue trader. Ally in some knights for the fun of it. Slips
All ive got to say is oray you dont come across the nasty pie plates available to 30k. A Glaive can potentially target most/all your levy squads and in a single shot vape the vast majority of both due to it causing an equal number of hits to the number of models in a unit under the beam + deflagrate, Ignores Cover, S8 and Ap2. That or the ubiquitous Typhons 7" NOPE plate will have a field day alongside any army taking Medusae. So if you really want to run levies, id go for the Cult buffs to make them fearless otherwise your better of with proto-SM grenadiers and the like. ...also makes it faster to play since you arent shuffling ~100+ bodies a turn. GhostMalone
Well currently my local meta aren't using any nasties like Glaives or Typhons that's why I'm thinking of going the troop Heavy army in 2500 using sentinels and malcadores as my anti Tank. But in saying that though this army idea is more about just having a representation of a 30k militia I know I could always go zombies with fnp and fearless etc but I'm really looking at a lock shock and boots on the ground with barells. But to start with the grenadiers are looking to be the starring point Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316049-so-since-everyones-getting-boc/#findComment-4225744 Share on other sites
