HenricusTyranicus
I'm in the process of the building my first Land Raider Crusader, and I was wondering if there are any parts that should be painted before the model is assembled. I'm thinking especially the hurricane bolters, I can imagine those being tough to get at once everything is fully assembled. marvmoogy
The interior! Seriously, if you're not going to glue down the front hatch, then you want to snip out, prime then paint the interior before building it. Sponsons are a good idea and I would to the tracks too....if memory serves, some of them become obscured by the armour paneling. Honda
The sponson mounts and the hurricane bolters should be painted, then added to the hull. You are correct in assuming that painting the guns evenly once constructed can be problematical. The tracks...basically, you have two options: 1. If you glue them on, then you'll spend extra time trying to paint around the lower hull areas that extend below the track line. or 2. You can paint them first, then assemble. However, in this case, you will spend about the same amount of time fiddling with the bits trying to get them lined up and glued. I always glued them on, then painted. I got good at that. In general, I try to reduce the amount of post painting construction to as little as possible. But that's just me.
