Need Help, Imperial Fists or Emperors Children

Here's a whole thread for this kind of question.

I can't really say anything about gameplay, but choice of a Legion should be based more on the kind of colour scheme you want to paint, and which fluff you prefer.

Is there a reason for the Emperor's Children and the Imperial Fists in particular are your two choices ?

:p

Imp fists.

Good with boltguns, better heavy support units, better sergeants for your squads, great characters. units are mediocre, phalanx warders are amazing for zone mortalis, templars mince power armour.

Awful primarch, boring fluff, terrible models that are overpriced i.e. upgrade packs for £22 and sigismund for £45?!?!?!, get boring quick as you play defensive, i,e. stay in cover for 5-6 turns. expensive ROW.

Emp children.

Pretty and handsome screaming faced primarch who can choose strategic warlord trait. i.e. free infiltrate!!, really nice models, better fluff, able to have str 5 ap2 on initiative when charging for their unique legion weapon.

Not the best of legions, in terms of power, they wont hold up well compared to Imp fists. ROW is meh, Eidolon is £45 too?!?!?, really lame units i.e. phoenix guard.

X) Thanks

TC, if you are planning on running a Primarch I'd probably go Emperor's children as Fulgrim really bolsters the army and is pretty darn cool.

Saying that, Dorn is a great force multiplier and still immense unless fighting against other Primarchs, but he still won't go down easy regardless...

His model could be fantastic, and his rules might be changed in future anyways, similar to Fulgrim getting Firebrand.

Fists all the way. Yellow is easy to paint and the minis are freaking fantastic... eCs are flipping gorgeous though. The fists are uncompromising and straight forward- have a siege to play- do it the fists way! The children like to play with their foes and attack with a lightning strike.

Primarch wise... Both are pretty ok. I think sigismund is one of the best dudes to ever set foot on the table, the brethren are beastly and both cost an arm and a leg to balance that out.

Both can be shooty or stabby

oh that's tough man I feel you're pain EC are hands down my favourite traitor legion (B4 they get all slaneeshi that is) and purple has the potential to be so gorgeous.

I went fists cause I wanted to be the hero at the final battle and Sigismund is the king of men. Yellow has a steep learning curve but once you get "you're" yellow it's easy and very rewarding to paint. as far as playstyle they are solid and relatively easy to play but not quite as strong as say raven guard and iron hands.

also you can play them however you like really. I'm sure the Fists had fast attack specialists for counter assault with lots a templar running around slicing things up and storm eagles and jet bikes and stuff if you like.

the EC are really cool and a purple army is a show stopper and purple is easy to

give depth to especially with the pallet GW paints give you right now they have some nice gradient changes from light to dark purple witch is handy if you buy GW paints.

I don't know personally how they play but I think if you are a power gamer they are a challenge for sure. I think they kind of work really well if the dice gods are kind and you're plans work out but on the other hand they can really get derailed if they run into problems early. But by the dark gods they look good.

either way check out Kizzdogs thread he has hands down the best EC on the interwebs in my opinion. Blade wolf does a really cool alternate templar scheme. and Iron without has some really good fists if you're interested on this subforum. I'd post the links but I'm on my phone

its a tough choice and let me say if I get the calth box those mk4 bodies are all going to be purple (if I get it, stay strong will power)
