No no ill do it the legion way... the right way. But i know the minute we go higher than 2k hes dropping knights in his list he keeps saying something along the lines of a 3k hes bringing a warhound so yea. If anyone on here lives in portland oregon or Vancouver Washington thats the state not washington dc then please let me know i am praying that 30k takes off soon

So as much as I enjoy the "smash his cog loving face in" options, have you tried simply talking about your grievances with him? Something along the lines of "Hey, I didn't really enjoy our game the other day due to...", Thanatar at such a low point cost and illegal allies. Sometimes people don't realize that they are being douches.

Yeah seriously, this guy just doesn't sound like a good time. Definitely check out the Community threads for your area, on here and on other boards like heresy30k. I'll be moving up to Willamette/PDX for a new job in February actually, so there's that. I've seen at least a few other people post from the area that do 30k, it's just a matter of finding them.

Crushing him might actually exacerbate the problem in this Regard.

Just by your previous comment of "He'll bring a Warhound at 3k" means that crushing him by out-cheesing his BS will most likely backfire on you and just cause him to get all Uppity about it.

It just sounds like your only 30k opponent is 'that guy'. HH has just as much possibilities for cheese lists and RoW formations. The defense is that you too can play a piece of censored.gif list that isn't fun and you can win. Is winning with an army of models you don't like what you want from the game ?

Well im not looking for cheese im looking at crushing his 40k/30k mix army with a solid 30k legion list and not feeling bad. I wont play against a warhound at 3k cause to me thats just kinda dumb to need to take that if were playing a campaign game sire ill play along but for a clug game no id rather not

I mean he brings a warhound i say no thanks and move on to playing my 30k army against some 40k armies amd seeing if anyone gets interested seeing as gw has the vast majority of vehicles used in 30k in plastic and now they sell an awesome box set that would sum up your troops choice plus a couple different things then i cant see why pwo Pl e wouldnt want to get into it now yes you still need forgeworld stuff but its not at such a huge % anymore to play that expansion

I like just about every model ive looked at in forgeworlds heresy range i dont think id enjoy just smashing face with a cheese list but id enjoy using what the legion offers to the tsble to smash face

I Bs'd this together on the Quick. Not really The best, but it brings multiple high-value threats for the Admech Player to deal with and due to the army being even lower model-count and elite than even Grey Knights, you should be able to overload him.

Only chose Alpha Legion for Infiltrate Shenanigans. Hesh could probably do better since I'm currently Half Brain Dead in class right now.

The Low Initiative of Mechanicum in General means that the Darkfire Cannons should have an easy time forcing Blind onto his Big Nasties while also hitting him with a fair few number of S7 Ap2 shots while being T7 Sponges themselves. And with them gaining Alpha Legion Rules, you can pretty much set up advantageously.

Vigilator Joins the Seekers and if possible Mark a Priority Target for Preferred Enemy -> Infiltrate -> Scout -> Rapid Fire Plasma with preferred enemy away.

If they survive, coo, drown him in Special Issue Ammo and act as LoS for the Medusae with the Nuncio-Vox.

Preator goes with the bike. Small unit that will likely be less of a priority for him to deal with but packs a punch. With the MC's not having Eternal Warrior, you have a pretty good chance of just ID'ing some of his big nasties.

Sniper Vets are near-mandatory for dealing with Admech. Wounding on a 4+ consistently means their high Toughness is worth nothing and with the possibility of Ap2 on 6s, means you can deal quite the amount of damage through weight of fire.

So now trying to figure out what would most likely help le play on a more interesting playing field. He has no vehicles only mcs pretty much so looking for some stuff to make the game fun for me. Tanks i am really interested in the medusa and some of the land raider variants. Probably gonna work up to 2500 points and ill let him being his silly skitarii and cult mechanicus crap if i can at least stay in a fair playing ground against it. Sicarans land raiders the typhon rapier batteries stuff like that would it be a good starting point? Im picking up a second box set to fkesh out the troops and stuff so will have that covered as for what legion not sure atm so tips and any good reviews on these tanks vs mechanicum would be nice also derailing my own thread to ask another question

Do the legions have access to flyers like the avenger and tge thunderbolt? It says we can use any flyers from the forgeworld books right so just making an assumption on that so any ideas on those would be nice to thanks in advance

Bringing Skitarii allies shouldn't really unbalance the game. If anything, it should help you out. If you are playing the by the 30K ruleset, they wouldn't be able to hop into allied dedicated transports, so footslogging vanguard/rangers means fewer points spent on battle-automata eating your face. Thallax/Castellax/Thanatar all mitigate cover saves in some way, so you need to eventually invest in transports for your units. Mechanicum tanks are mostly going to be Krios Venators who blast you from a distance, or Medusa with Phosphex shells (more reason to get transports) blasting you from a distance. Triaros will either have a support auxilia squad or a myrmidon death star. Except for the Medusa, all these vehicles are flare shielded, so you will need something like a Sicaran Venator or Deimos tank destroyer to deal with them. Graviton rapiers will also work well, although be aware of the 36" range.

For dealing with monstrous creatures, I would recommend veteran squads with heavy bolters, choosing the sniper tactic. They can force the quantity of wounds necessary to take some of the bigger beasties down.

And yes, you can take the fliers.
